Track and Field Teams Close Out Virginia Challenge

Men’s and women’s track teams record two top-10 marks

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Nittany Lions wrapped up a strong showing at the Virginia Challenge on Saturday, April 19 with four personal records and two top-10 marks

TOP PERFORMANCES  

Lea Hatcher placed ninth overall in the women’s 800-meter finals, clocking in at 2:10.89 to set a new PR.  

The women’s 4x400-meter relay team placed first with a time of 3:36.10. The men’s 4x400-meter relay team placed first with a time of 3:06.64.  

James Onwuka cracked into the top-10 in the men’s 400-meter race after placing sixth at a time of 46.70 to take the No. 10 spot in program history and set a PR.  

Over in the field, Emi Erekosima placed third in the men’s triple jump after recording a with a 15.19m (49-10) leap.  

Three Nittany Lions finished within the top-10 in the men’s high jump. Isaac Osifo’s second-place mark of 2.17m (7-1 ½) to set a new PR and tie for No. 7 in program history with Devin Bradham, who set the mark in 2019. Robert Allen placed fourth with a 2.06m (6-9) mark while Timothy Watson rounded out Penn State's top finishers with a 2.01m (6-7) mark.

  • Hatcher placed ninth at 2:10.89 to set a new PR 

Men’s 200-meter  

  • Joshua Stolarski placed 46th overall to tie his PR at 22.09  

Women’s 4x400-meter Relay 

  • Penn State placed first in the 4x400-meter relay at a time of 3:36.10   

Men’s 400-meter 

  • Onwuka placed sixth at a time of 46.70 to take the No. 10 spot in program history and set a PR  

Men’s 4x400-meter Relay  

  • Penn State Group A placed first in 3:06.64  

FIELD EVENT SUMMARY   

Women’s Javelin 

Men’s Triple Jump 

  • Erekosima placed third in the triple jump with a 15.19m (49-10) jump 

Men’s Pole Vault 

Men’s High Jump Invitational 

  • Osifo placed second with a 2.17m (7-1 ½) mark to set a new PR and to tie for No. 7 all-time  
  • Allen placed fourth with a 2.06m (6-9) jump  
  • Watson tied for ninth place at 2.01m (6-7) jump
