UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State women’s tennis’ Brianna Baldi earned Big Ten Player of the Week Honors on Wednesday afternoon.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State women’s tennis’ Brianna Baldi earned Big Ten Player of the Week Honors on Wednesday afternoon.
Baldi had a standout performance at the Debbie Southern Fall Classic in her first appearance in the Blue & White. She won her flight in singles with a 3-0 record, defeating Jane Dunyon (South Carolina), Marina Fudruic (Kentucky) and Heidi Bulger (Wake Forest).
The Greensboro, North Carolina native paired with sophomore Patricia Grigoras to win two doubles matches at the event. The pair took down Mississippi State’s Mia Robinson and Athina Pitta, 6-1, and Wake Forest's Whitley Pate and Evie Oxford, 7-5.
The sophomore joined the Nittany Lions after spending a year at Wake Forest. In her freshman season with the Deamon Deacons, Baldi compiled a 16-6 (10-5 dual) singles and 1-4 (0-1 dual) doubles record.
Baldi is a former 5-star recruit and No. 1 recruit in North Carolina, No. 34 nationally, according to Tennis Recruiting Network.
Head Coach Alexandra McIntyre enters her seventh season leading the program in 2025-26 following her winningest season at the helm a season ago. The team’s 14 wins were the most since the 2012-13 season.
