UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State baseball team swept its Fall doubleheader against Team Ontario on Friday evening at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
The Nittany Lions won 18-0 in game one and 14-0 in game two.
Penn State concludes Fall action next Friday against Bucknell at 5 p.m.
In game one, the Nittany Lions collected 18 runs on 18 hits, including seven extra-base hits. Jayden Davis, Jesse Jaconski and Bryce Molinaro each drove in three runs.
On the mound, Penn State tallied 16 strikeouts. Colin Fitzgerald got the start, striking out three in a scoreless inning. Ethan Bauerschmidt, Ben Hudson and Isaiah Shayter all recorded three strikeouts in an inning of work.
In game two, Avery Smith launched a three-run homer to lead the Nittany Lions, who tallied 14 runs on 11 hits. Justin Turcovski added two hits, including a triple, two RBI and two steals.
Penn State recorded 15 strikeouts. Frankie Sanchez got the start, posting a perfect first and striking out one. Robert Brown III and Mason Horwat both registered three strikeouts over a scoreless inning.
