UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 6 Penn State women’s ice hockey team is set to hit the road this weekend as they continue conference play at Robert Morris. Friday's game is set 3 p.m. while puck drop for Saturday's game is slated for 5 p.m. with both games being streamed on FloHockey.

  • Penn State is currently in the top five for both scoring offense and defense categories as well as scoring margin.
  • The Nittany Lions are scoring 4.80 goals per game while only allowing 0.80 goal per game.
  • PSU also has only allowed 13.8 shots on goal per game, which is the lowest in the nation.
  • The Nittany Lions also lead the nation in shorthanded goals with three.
  • PSU makes up the entire top 10 in plus/minus rating in the AHA with Danica Maynard leading the way at +17.

DOMINANCE IN THE DOT

  • The Nittany Lions are ranked third nationally in faceoff win percentage at 62.3 percent.
  • Tessa Janecke has won 97 faceoffs, pacing the Nittany Lions.

FANTIN’S SECOND WEEKLY AWARD

  • Freshman Maitlde Fantin was named the AHA Rookie of the Week this past Tuesday afternoon.
  • Fantin notched six points over the course of two games against Lindenwood last weekend, scoring a goal and dishing an assist in each game.
  • She also posted a +4 rating to go with winning 13 of 21 faceoffs.
  • She is now tied for sixth nationally in points among freshmen skaters with 12 and tied for first in goals (5).

SHOOTER’S SHOOT

  • Grace Outwater is currently fifth in the nation in shots on goal while leading the Nittany Lions with 56.
  • Her and Tessa Janecke lead Atlantic Hockey with over 4.5 shots on goal per game this season.
  • The two also lead the conference in goals as Outwater has 9 and Janecke has 7.

THE USUAL SUSPECTS

  • The top three active scoring leaders on PSU, Tessa Janecke, Katelyn Roberts, and Maddy Christian, all chipped in this past weekend.
  • Janecke had four points with two goals and two assists. She is now three assists away from 100 career assists and would become the first player to reach the milestone.
  • Janecke also scored on the power play to bring her season total to three power-play goals which is tied for first nationally.
  • Katelyn Roberts tallied two goals in the 5-0 game one win over Lindenwood while Maddy Christian also tallied an assist.

FIRST TIME, LONG TIME

  • Abby Stonehouse and Kendall Butze each scored their first goals of the season last weekend helping to propel the Nittany Lions to another sweep.
  • Freshman goaltender Maddy Campbell started her second game in net, notching her first career home win and home shutout in Saturday’s 5-0 win over Lindenwood.
  • Campbell made 18 saves in the shutout and was named first star of the game.
