UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State baseball team hosts Team Ontario on Friday, October 10 for a Fall game at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. with free admission for all ages.
The Nittany Lions host Team Ontario for their second of three Fall Ball games. Penn State welcomes Bucknell on Friday, Oct. 17.
The blue and white earned two wins over Villanova on September 26, picking up 7-5 and 5-4 victories.
In game one, Colin Fitzgerald, Mason Horwat, Ben DeMell, Kyle Emmons and Michael Anderson all tossed shutout innings, while Cohl Mercado, Bryce Molinaro and Maddox McDonald each had two hits, an extra-base hit and at least one RBI.
In game two, Ben Hudson, Harrison Lollin, Isaiah Shayter, Frankie Sanchez and Robert Brown III all threw a scoreless frame. Preston Yaucher had a double, a triple and two RBI, while Jayden Davis recorded a triple and an RBI and Avery Smith tallied an RBI double.
Penn State, led by head coach Mike Gambino, finished the 2025 season with a 33-23 record, posting its second-most wins in a season. PSU reached the 30-win mark for the first time since 2011. The Nittany Lions made another strong run in the Big Ten Tournament, reaching the semifinals in back-to-back years for the first time since 2000-01.
The Nittany Lions return 18 members from the 2025 squad, including five hitters who started 36+ games last season. Bryce Molinaro (13), Jesse Jaconski (12) and Jack Porter (10) return after hitting double-digit homers a year ago. Porter was an ABCA All-Region second team selection.
On the mound, Penn State brings back nine pitchers who made 10+ appearances in 2025.
Penn State welcomes 21 newcomers, including 10 hitters and 11 pitchers. PSU brought in six transfer hitters and three transfer pitchers.
