UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- No. 19 Penn State women’s volleyball is back at Rec Hall for a pair of Big Ten matches this weekend. The Nittany Lions annual White Out match is against No. 7 Wisconsin on Friday at 7 p.m., and they welcome Northwestern to Happy Valley on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Friday's match against the Badgers airs on B1G Network, while Saturday's contest with the Wildcats streams on B1G+.

OPENING NOTES
• No. 19 Penn State is back at Rec Hall for a pair of matches when it hosts No. 7 Wisconsin and Northwestern on Friday and Saturday. After this weekend, the Nittany Lions will have played 11 of their last 12 matches in Happy Valley.
• Penn State is 53-9 at Rec Hall in Katie Schumacher-Cawley’s four seasons as head coach. The Nittany Lions went a perfect 20-0 at home last season.
• The Nittany Lions averaged 4,373 fans through their first nine home matches.
• The Badgers are the fifth nationally-ranked opponent to come to Rec Hall this season, joining Kentucky, Pitt, Nebraska, and USC.

WHITE OUT
• Friday is Penn State’s annual White Out match at Rec Hall.
• The Nittany Lions are 2-1 in White Out matches under head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley, including wins over No. 9 Minnesota in 2022 and No. 11 Oregon in 2024.
Maggie Mendelson hit .353 with seven kills and five blocks in last year’s White Out match, a sweep over the Ducks. Caroline Jurevicius tallied five kills on .455 hitting, while Gillian Grimes totaled 10 digs.

SERIES HISTORY - WISCONSIN
• Penn State is 50-16 in the all-time series with Wisconsin. The teams first played in 1986.
• The Nittany Lions were swept by the Badgers last season. The loss was Penn State’s sole conference defeat en route to clinching a share of the program’s 18th Big Ten title. 
• Penn State is 27-3 against the Badgers at Rec Hall, including their most recent match in Happy Valley, which was a 3-1 win in 2023.  Gillian Grimes had 14 digs and two aces in that win.

SCOUTING WISCONSIN
• Wisconsin is 11-1 and 4-0 in the Big Ten following four consecutive sweeps over Rutgers, Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan.
• The Badgers are 3-1 in ranked matchups this season. They beat No. 14 Kansas, No. 21 Georgia Tech, and No. 15 Florida but fell to No. 5 Texas.
• Wisconsin was picked to finish third in the Big Ten Preseason Poll.
• Three Badgers - senior middle blocker Carter Booth, senior outside hitter Mimi Colyer, and sophomore setter Charlie Fuerbringer – were named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team.
• Both Colyer and Fuerbringer have been named Player of the Week and Setter of the Week twice this season, while Booth was named Defensive Player of the Week once. 

SERIES HISTORY - NORTHWESTERN
• Penn State is 59-9 in the all-time series with Northwestern. The teams first played in 1981.
• The Nittany Lions have won 12 straight in the series, including a 3-1 win last season. Caroline Jurevicius tallied four kills to go with her six block assists. Jordan Hopp and Maggie Mendelson each contributed two kills in the win.

• Penn State is 30-1 against the Wildcats at Rec Hall.

SCOUTING NORTHWESTERN
• Northwestern is 11-5 and 1-3 in the Big Ten following consecutive losses to Michigan State and No. 10 Minnesota.
• The Wildcats are 0-2 in ranked matchups this season.
• Northwestern was picked 15th in the Big Ten Preseason Poll.
