No. 6 Nittany Lions Traveling to RIT to Finish First Half of Conference Play
Game one will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Gene Polisseni Center.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 6 Penn State women’s ice hockey team is finishing up its first half of the season in conference play, traveling to face RIT this weekend. Game one will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday while puck drop for game two is slated for 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.

- This is the 68th meeting between the two programs with Penn State leading the all-time head to head 42-17-8.

- Tessa Janecke is just three goals from becoming the program’s all-time leading goal scorer, currently sitting at 72.
- This past weekend she became the first player in program history to reach 100-assist milestone. She now sits at 101.
- Goaltender Katie DeSa is two shutouts from breaking the program’s career shutout record, currently sitting at 19.
- Kendall Butze is within two assists of passing Izzy Heminger for the most career assists by a defenseman, sitting at 64 currently.
- She is also within 10 points of breaking the program’s career points by a defenseman record which was set at 84 last season by Lyndie Lobdell.
RECORD-TYING WIN OVER SYRACUSE
- This past weekend the Nittany Lions broke and tied multiple program records with two dominant wins over Syracuse.
- Scoring 18 total goals over the two games is the most over any two-game span in the program’s history.
- In Saturday’s 11-2 win, Penn State tied their own record for most goals in a game and most goal scorers with eight different Nittany Lions finding the back of the net.
- Their 28 combined points and 17 assists in Saturday’s win are the second-most in a single game in program history for each category.
ROBERTS AND BUTZE EACH NAMED FOR WEEKLY AWARD
- Katelyn Roberts received the first weekly award of her career this week, being named the AHA’s Forward of the Week.
- Kendall Butze earned her second career Defenseman of the Week award for her efforts in PSU’s sweep this weekend.
- Roberts had a career weekend, posting six points, including a career-high four points in Saturday’s win.
- She scored the game-winning goal in both contests for Penn State.
- Kendall Butze notched five total assists over the two games, dishing three in Saturday’s win.
- She now has nine career multi-assist games and two games with three or more assists.
SPECIAL TEAMS, SPECIAL PLAYERS
- Penn State ranks top five nationally in both special teams categories, sitting second on the power play (34 percent) and fifth on the penalty kill (91.7 percent).
- They are tied with RIT with the most total power play goals (17) in the nation and are first nationally in shorthanded goals (5).
- Tess Janecke and Katelyn Roberts are each tied for second in the nation in power play goals at four.
- Grace Outwater leads the country in shorthanded goals with two after scoring her second this weekend.
