PENN STATE OUTLOOK
The No. 13-ranked Penn State women’s team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship after its third-place finish at the 2025 Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships.
The women’s team returns to the championships as a full team for the third consecutive season, led by graduate student Florence Caron. Caron claimed fourth overall at the Mid-Atlantic Championships last week, leading the Nittany Lions with her third top five finish in a race this season. Penn State also comes into the championships with four total All-Region honorees this season, with Ada Rand, Claire Daniels, and Lea Hatcher joining Caron as top-25 finishers in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
Penn State has gotten stronger as the year has gone on with five Nittany Lions running PR’s last week at the Mid-Atlantic Regionals championships.
On the men’s side, Nick Sloff earned an individual bid to this year’s championship meet as one of the top four finishers in the regional meet not on a team receiving an automatic bid. The junior put together the best 10K race of his collegiate career at Mid-Atlantic Regionals, running a PR 29:37.0 to qualify.
THE NCAA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Penn State women return to the NCAA Cross Country Championships for the third season in a row. It is the first time they have gone to three NCAA Championships in a row since going to five straight from 2015 to 2019. This marks the 26th overall appearance at nationals for the Nittany Lions.
Sloff earned his first career bid to the championship meet and is the second Nittany Lion in consecutive years to qualify, following Brian DiCola a season ago. It is the first time since 2013 and 2014 that the PSU men have had individual qualifiers in back-to-back seasons.
