Klosowicz secures No. 79 individual player ranking, Nemeth comes in at No. 91

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State softball saw a pair of student-athletes land D100 Individual Player Rankings from D1Softball on Tuesday afternoon, with junior utility Brooke Klosowicz securing the No. 79 selection and junior right-handed pitcher Bridget Nemeth earning the No. 91 nod.

Klosowicz, a native of Johnsburg, Illinois, picked up her second top-100 individual ranking of the week on Tuesday, with her No. 79 selection per D1Softball joining a Softball America No. 92 ranking from the day before. The third-year offensive sensation returns to Happy Valley following one of the most productive single seasons in program history in 2025, a campaign in which she set the Nittany Lion single-season records in doubles (23), and runs batted in (53) in addition to mustering the second-most total bases (131), fourth-most home runs (13) and fourth-highest batting average (.422) in a single year at PSU.

The third-year utility/designated player was one of four Penn Staters to secure Second Team All-Big Ten Conference honors in the postseason and was additionally named an NFCA Second Team All-Northeast Region honoree alongside three of her teammates. Klosowicz peaked as the No. 6 utility/DP in all of college softball in rankings released by both D1Softball and Softball America, landing a wide array of individual accolades in recognition of her stellar sophomore campaign. Klosowicz’s decorated second season saw her rank second in college softball and second in the B1G with her 23 doubles and 0.44 doubles per game, while ranking eighth on the Big Ten’s batting average leaderboard with her .422 mark in that category.

Nemeth looks to make her return to the diamond in the 2026 season following an injury-deferred 2025 campaign. Owner of the most dominant single season by a pitcher in Penn State program history, Nemeth returns to Happy Valley as the program’s record holder for victories in a pitching season after logging 23 wins during PSU’s 2024 NCAA Tournament campaign. Nemeth logged 202 strikeouts across 210.0 innings pitched in her record-setting freshman year and was honored with a wide array of accolades as a result. The Glendora, California, native became Penn State’s first all-time Freshman All-American, was named the Penn State Female Athlete of the Year in the 2023-24 academic year, secured B1G Freshman of the Year laurels and was a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten Conference honoree.

In anticipation of her sophomore campaign in the Blue & White, Nemeth landed a wide array of preseason accolades ahead of the 2025 season highlighted by securing the No. 32 overall player ranking according to D1Softball in the preseason. Nemeth now becomes Penn State’s only multi-time preseason top 100 player according to the Nittany Lions’ available records following her D100 selection on Tuesday afternoon. Nemeth’s 2025 season was deferred due to an injury suffered in the preseason.

With Klosowicz and Nemeth leading the way, the Nittany Lions will kick off the 2026 campaign the weekend of Friday through Sunday, February 6 through 8, at the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic. The Blue & White will challenge the Missouri Tigers, Boston College Eagles, Eastern Kentucky Colonels, BYU Cougars and Auburn Tigers from the Eddie C.
