Awards: Published the most decorated freshman season in Penn State history, highlighted by her recognition as the Penn State Female Athlete of the Year, softball’s second honor of that nature in the last three seasons… Became the first Freshman All-American in program history, earning those honors from D1Softball and Softball America… Earned placements on the Top 25 and Top 10 Watch Lists for the NFCA National Freshman of the Year Award… Named a First Team NFCA All-Great Lakes Region athlete… Awarded as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, the first athlete to win an individual award in softball since PSU joined the league… Named a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection as well as a Freshman All-Big Ten honoree… Garnered Softball America’s No. 51 overall player and No. 17 overall pitcher rankings in the postseason… Named the D1Softball National Freshman of the Week on two occasions (March 26, April 9)… Secured Big Ten Pitcher of the Week laurels once (February 12) and Big Ten Freshman or Co-Freshman of the Week honors on three separate occasions (February 26, March 26, April 8).
Season: Submitted one of the greatest pitching seasons by a Nittany Lion in school history, highlighted by a Penn State single-season program-record 23 victories in the circle… Finished the season with a 23-8 overall record individually… Appeared in 40 contests and started 25, throwing 17 complete games in those opportunities… Her 40 appearances ranked as the seventh-most in a single season at PSU all-time… Added four saves, good enough for the fifth-most saves in a Nittany Lion pitching career… Tossed 210.0 innings overall, the fifth-most innings pitched by a Penn Stater in a single year… Logged a 1.77 earned run average… Amassed 202 total strikeouts, the sixth season in PSU history with 200 strikeouts, as well as the fifth-most all-time… As a hitter, totaled four hits with five RBI and a pair of home runs, including a game-tying home run that eventually helped PSU secure the B1G series at Nebraska.
Rankings: Finished as the Big Ten statistical champion in pitching victories, while logging the 16th-most wins in America with 23… Led the Big Ten Conference and ranked 10th in the nation with 210.0 innings pitched… With a 1.77 ERA, she ranked second in the B1G and 36th nationally… Stood third in the B1G and 17th nationally with 202 strikeouts… Registered the third-most pitching appearances in the conference with 40… Her 17 complete games ranked third in the Big Ten Conference and inside the top 50 nationally… Turned in the fourth-fewest walks allowed per seven innings in the B1G with 1.63… Notched the sixth-most strikeouts per seven innings in the conference with 6.7… Yielded the sixth-fewest hits per seven innings in the B1G with 5.77… Ranked eighth in the B1G in games started with 25.
vs. Marshall (2/9): Made her collegiate debut and earned credit for her first victory at Penn State, tossing 5.0 innings with three strikeouts and two earned runs in the 5-2 Nittany Lion opening day victory. vs. Ohio (2/11): Picked up her first collegiate save with 3.0 innings of no-hit effort. vs. Coastal Carolina (2/16): Put double figures in the strikeout column for the first time in her career, sitting down 11 Chanticleeers en route to her first collegiate complete-game win, a 6-2 PSU result. vs. Morgan State (2/24): Tossed her second complete game in the last three matchups, striking out a then-career high 13 batters in the process. Indiana (3/22): Opened her Big Ten career with a decisive complete-game victory, striking out five Hoosier batters and allowing a single earned run on the way to head coach Clarisa Crowell’s 300th career victory. Maryland (3/31): Celebrated Easter Sunday with 6.0 innings of work in relief, guiding Penn State to a grueling extra-inning victory that featured eight strikeouts and zero walks. at Nebraska (4/7): Did it all in one of the greatest individual outings in PSU softball history, highlighted by a complete-game, 10.0 inning effort that included a career-high 14 strikeouts, the fifth-most K’s in a game at PSU all-time… Contributed her first career hit, run scored, RBI and home run with a two-run bomb in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game and ensure PSU’s opportunity to book a 6-5, series-clinching win. at Wisconsin (4/19): Threw her first of two weekend complete games against the Badgers, surrendering a mere two hits with 11 strikeouts. at Wisconsin (4/21): Surrendered just four hits and two earned runs with eight strikeouts on the board in the series-clinching complete-game win over the Badgers. at Rutgers (5/3): Allowed one earned run with eight strikeouts en route to a 4-1 victory over the Scarlet Knights. NCAA Regional vs. UAlbany (5/18): Set the Penn State single-season wins record with her 23rd victorious decision of the year, tossing a complete game with seven strikeouts as PSU picked up a 9-3 elimination game result against the Great Danes.
HIGH SCHOOL
Attended Glendora High School in Glendora, California, starring on the softball roster as both a pitcher and infielder... Was a First Team All-League selection and MVP in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons... Picked up First Team All-State accolades in her senior year... Was named the Glendora High School Female Athlete of the Year in 2023... Landed All Star Game MVP honors in 2023, as well as bringing home the All Star Game Home Run Derby title... Named the San Gabriel Valley Player of the Year and 210 Prep Sports Girls Athlete of the Week during her stellar 2023 run... Earned the Academic All-League award... Also earned varsity letters in volleyball at Glendora, picking up All-League Second Team laurels in 2022... Was a member of the Corona Angels travel ball organization under the direction of coach Kim Howard... Placed third at the Alliance National Championship alongside fellow Nittany Lions Jiselle Hernandez and Audree Mendoza… Earned All-Tournament Team accolades as a part of the Corona Angels at the Alliance National Championship.
PERSONAL
Born in the summer of 2005 in Glendora, California, Bridget Nemeth is the daughter of Katie and Dave Nemeth... She is the youngest of four children and is the family’s third daughter... She has one older brother named Jacob, and two older sisters named Melissa and Virginia... All three siblings played collegiate sports, with her brother Jacob playing baseball at Azusa Pacific University... Her sisters, Melissa and Virginia, are both on the softball roster at Concordia University Irvine in their senior seasons... Is currently majoring in Agricultural Business in the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences, with an expected graduation date set for the spring of 2027... Takes part in the Penn State chapter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and Penn State Christian Athletes (PSCA)... Hopes to begin a career in produce sales at the conclusion of her playing career... In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, playing pickleball and spending time around animals.
