Combined Camp - All 3 Sessions / 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The Penn State Softball Prospect Clinic is designed for players who are interested in developing their skills. Players will have an opportunity to demonstrate their talents under the direct supervision and evaluation of the Penn State coaching staff. Each player will learn the same skills and techniques that the Penn State softball players use to develop their game.  Emphasis will be placed on skill instruction for all positions including offense, defense, pitching, and catching in a competitive environment.

AM Session - Pitchers & Catchers / 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Players will learn the fundamentals needed to improve their overall pitching and catching skills.

Pitchers

Pitching sessions will be broken up by specific pitch types and will focus on the fundamentals of how to properly throw each pitch effectively.  Additional instruction will focus on drills to help with overall body mechanics, spin, movement, arm strength, and power to help produce optimal pitch velocity.

Note:  Pitchers must bring a catcher who is NOT attending the clinic for break out drill work. Gloves, cleats, and turf shoes are required; face masks are optional.

Adult guest catcher - Those adults attending with a pitcher must complete a waiver of liability at final registration to participate.

Minor guest catcher - Those minors attending with a pitcher must complete a Participant Form online to participate.  Minor guest catchers must bring their full catching gear.

Catchers

Catchers will be provided with the opportunity to learn proper mechanics to help enhance their blocking, receiving, and glove transfer skills. Catchers will also be provided with insight on how to continue to develop arm strength and overall pop times. Catchers must bring their own equipment (i.e., face mask, chest protector, cleats, turf shoes/sneakers, and shin guards).

Enrollment is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

Defense Session - Position Players / 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Emphasis will be placed on the defensive drills aimed at foundational work to become more consistent as infielders and outfielders. Campers will be grouped by primary fielding positions to cover proper footwork, angles, range, and overhand throwing techniques.

Offense Session - Position Players / 2:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Emphasis will be placed on the fundamentals of what it takes to be a consistent offensive player.  Campers will have the opportunity to participate in drills aimed at creating power, recognizing pitches, improving plate approach (pitch selection and contact points) while also working on the mental game.  Baserunning skills will also be addressed.

***Bring all softball equipment needed for offense and defense.  Cleats and turf shoes are required.

Enrollment is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

**Helpful Registration Information**
Sign your athlete up for their primary position to assure that the skill instruction can be tailored to their specific needs. Pitchers and catchers in the first session can return to participate in the Defense Session and/or Offense Session under their secondary position if desired. Campers should be prepared to play the position in which they registered.
