Softball Elite -All Skills Camps, June 16 or August 15
Grades 9 -12, girls

The Penn State Softball Elite-All Skills Camp is designed for players who are interested in developing their skills. Players will have an opportunity to demonstrate their talents under the direct supervision and evaluation of the Penn State coaching staff. Each player will learn the same skills and techniques that the Penn State softball players use to develop their game.  Emphasis will be placed on skill instruction for all positions including offense, defense, pitching, and catching in a competitive environment.  Also, players will play live game play/simulation. The camp runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Hitting/Defense

The hitting portion will consist of skill work and LIVE-AT-BATS off pitchers. Emphasis will be placed on contact points, pitch recognition, bat speed, power, baserunning and much more. During live-at-bats, our staff will provide insight into different plate approaches, the mental side of hitting, and discuss overall keys to success for situational hitting. Position specific defensive skill instruction will be incorporated throughout the camp as well as team defensive concepts during live situations.

The defensive portion of camp will consist of position specific (catching, infield, outfield) skill work and high-energy drills designed to build confidence and sharpen technique. The focus will be on the fundamentals of elite defense — from glovework and quick first steps to reaction time, hand-eye coordination, and understanding team defense concepts. The goal is to help every camper feel more comfortable, explosive, and game-ready in the field. Campers will get the chance to compete and apply what they’ve learned in live and simulated game situations, turning reps into real-time plays. Expect diving stops, quick transfers, bang-bang plays, and plenty of excitement along the way. It’s all about learning, competing, and having fun while becoming a more confident and complete defender.

Pitching

The pitching portion of camp will consist of drills during the morning and throwing/catching live with hitters in the afternoon. Pitchers will learn skills and preferred biomechanics to help improve spin, accuracy, and power. Live At-Bats against hitters will offer pitchers a chance to learn how to properly sequence against a hitter during an at bat, the “Ins & Outs” of controlling the strike zone, working together and the mental side of being a strong driving force on the field.

NOTE: Pitchers will not need to bring their own catcher.
