UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The No. 16 Penn State Nittany Lions (4-2, 2-1 Big Ten) head to Rec Hall on Saturday, February 14 at 2 p.m. to take on No. 15 Minnesota for the team’s Senior Day and Pink Zone game. Senior Day festivities will take place after the meet and the Nittany Lions will honor graduate student Jessica Johanson, seniors Ava Piedrahita and Amani Herring and senior managers Camryn Longenecker and Katie Leary.
LAST TIME OUT
In a pair of top-15 match ups against then-No. 3 LSU and then-No. 11 Michigan State, Penn State was able to continue the team’s streak of scoring 196.000 or more in every meet so far this year. The Nittany Lions are one of three Big Ten schools to not score below 196.000 during the 2026 campaign. Against the Spartans, the Blue and White scored 49.050 or higher in every rotation for the second time this season and secured season-high beam scores in back-to-back meets. The 49.350 beam score against Michigan State tied for the ninth-highest in program history and the highest since the 2019 campaign.
Freshman Ava Cash and sophomore Dani Latronica both secured new career-highs in the jam-packed weekend. Cash tied for her career-high on bars with a 9.875 and surpassed that mark with a 9.900 against the Spartans. Latronica grabbed her career-highs on beam in back-to-back meets. Against the Tigers, she scored a 9.900 on the apparatus, the then highest beam score of the season, and, against the Spartans, secured a 9.925 for the new team season-high. Herring grabbed a 9.900 on beam during the Sunday meet, her season-high, and Johanson notched a 9.875 on vault during the same meet for her season-high. On the floor against LSU, every Nittany Lions scored a 9.800 or above for the second time this season on the exercise.
NATIONAL RANKINGS
Penn State dropped in the rankings entering the weekend of competition, ranked as the 16th-ranked team nationally. The Nittany Lions are the fifth-highest ranked team in the Big Ten behind UCLA, Michigan, Michigan State and Minnesota. The Blue & White have the 13th-ranked rotation nationally on bars and beam, the third-best in the Big Ten for bars and fourth on beam. The Nittany Lions are 19th nationally on floor and 23rd on vault.
Latronica leads Penn State’s bars routine with the 34th best score nationally and Elizabeth Leary checks in at 49th nationally in her bars event. The Lake Worth native, Latronica, also found herself in the beam national rankings at 30th in the NCAA and eighth in the Big Ten. Alyssa Kramer and Kalea McElligott represent the Nittany Lions in the Big Ten rankings on floor, tied for 11th and 14th, respectively.
SERIES HISTORY
Penn State finds itself down in the all-time series against Minnesota, 11-15. The last time that Nittany Lions downed the Golden Gophers was in 2017. In last year’s edition of the match up, Minnesota won the head-to-head, 196.325-195.700.
