ROSEMONT, Ill.- Penn State women’s basketball’s Kiyomi McMiller was named to the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the conference on Tuesday, Feb. 16. This marks her first conference weekly nod of the season and third of her career after securing two Big Ten Freshman of the Week titles last year.
McMiller earns the honor after a highly effective week on the floor. Across two games, the sophomore guard averaged 31.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 3.0 assists. In her fourth consecutive 30-plus-point performance in Penn State’s win over Northwestern, the Silver Spring, Md. native recorded 32 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the floor in addition to 12 rebounds to round out her third double-double of the campaign. McMiller was efficient on all ends of the court against the Wildcats, combining for six steals in the Lady Lions’ first Pink Zone win since 2017. Against the Terps on the road, McMiller led the team with 30 points.
The dynamic guard has recorded double figure scoring in 25-of-26 contests so far this season including 14, 20-plus-point performances and five, 30-plus-point outings. She has led the team (or tied for the team lead) in assists in 18 games. McMiller recorded a career best 37 points on a personal high 16 field goals against no. 12/13 Michigan State on Feb. 7. She is on track to move up in the Penn State history book in total points scored in a sophomore campaign, where she currently ranks sixth. McMiller is also tied for second in Lady Lion history in career 30-point games with eight.
