UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State track and field senior Handal Roban was named the Big Ten’s Co-Track Athlete of the Week for his record-setting performance in the men’s 800-meter Saturday at the Asics Sound Invite.
Roban’s time of 1:44.73 is the second-fastest all time in NCAA history and a new program record for Penn State. It marks the second time this season Roban reset the record after he previously did so during the Penn State National Open Jan. 30.
Roban also holds the record in the 600-meter run, setting that during the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Feb. 7, and the third-fastest 1000-meter time in program history. He and the Nittany Lions continue their 2026 season with the Penn State Tune-Up Friday.
