Men’s Tennis Falls to No. 19 Princeton on the Road

The Nittany Lions move to 9-2 in 2026

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Penn State men’s tennis team fell to No. 19 Princeton in a 6-1 result on Saturday. The Nittany Lions moved to 9-2 on the season while the Tigers went to 11-3. 

David Lindsay earned Penn State a win in singles. The sophomore defeated Milan Markovits, 7-6, 7-6, on court four.  

Doubles 

Princeton took the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. Eyal Shyovitz and Emil Matikainen fell to No. 60 Sebastian Sec and Alexander Mitric, 6-1, on court three.  

Marcus Schoeman and Reiya Hattori dropped a 6-2 contest to Meecah Bigun and Top Nidunjianzan on court two. 

The tandem of Lindsay and Michael Wright owned a 5-2 lead against Paul Inchauspe and Markovits on court one as the match went unfinished. 

Singles 

The Tigers clinched the win with victories on courts two, five and six. On court two, Schoeman fell to Nidunjianzan, 6-1, 6-4. At the five spot, Matikainen dropped a 6-3, 6-1 decision to Mitric. Shyovitz fell to Jordan Reznik, 6-2, 6-4, on court six. 

After the match was clinched, Hattori fell in a tight three set battle against Sec on court three, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6.  

On court four, Lindsay secured the lone PSU victory of the day as he took down Markovits in a competitive match on court four. It took a tiebreaker set in both frames, but he was able to come out on top, 7-6, 7-6. 

Wright battled Inchauspe, ranked as the No. 4 singles player in the country, to three sets on court one. He ultimately fell, 6-2, 7-6, 6-3. 

UP NEXT  

The Nittany Lions stay on the road next weekend with a trip to New Haven, Connecticut on deck. Penn State will face Fairfield at 5 p.m. on February 27 before a matchup with Yale at 10 a.m. on February 28.
