WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind.- The Penn State men’s tennis team defeated Purdue 6-1 in its away match on Friday. The Nittany Lions now hold a 13-6 record for the season.
Freshman Eyal Shyovitz and sophomore Reiya Hattori teamed up for doubles and defeated their opponents 6-0. Shyovitz earned the first singles point when he took down Jacob Lee on court five. Hattori, David Lindsay, and Michael Wright each earned a doubles and singles victory in the match, as well.
Doubles
Shyovitz and Hattori defeated Lee and Nikola Jovic on court three 6-0.
Wright and Lindsay took down Maj Premzl and Henrik Villanger 6-3 in spot one.
Emil Matikainen and Marcus Schoeman were defeated by Nour Fathalla and Stefan Simeunovic 2-6.
Singles
Shyovitz won the first singles match by defeating Lee on court five 6-4, 6-2.
Wright had a court one face off against Fathalla and won 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Chesman earned Penn State’s fourth point by defeating Jovic on court six 7-5, 6-3.
Hattori was in spot three and took down Maj Premzl 7-6, 7-4.
Lindsay earned Penn State a sixth point on court four when he took down Simeunovic 5-7, 6-3, 6-3.
Villanger took the victory against Schoeman on court two 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
