ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. –The Penn State men’s golf team resumes play on Monday and Tuesday at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island hosted by Rutgers University at the Sea Island Resort.
SETTING THE STAGE
- This week’s tournament field is compiled of 14 teams as the Nittany Lions and host Scarlet Knights are joined by fellow Big Ten brethren Nebraska and Minnesota with West Virginia, Cincinnati, Princeton, Florida Gulf Coast, Georgia Southern, NC State, Memphis, UNCG, Kansas, Kennesaw State and Notre Dame rounded out the field.
- The Par-72, 7,060-yard Plantation Course at Sea Island Resort was originally Inspired by the traditional profile of Walter Travis’ 1928 original nine-hole course, it was then completely redesigned by Davis and Mark Love of Love Golf Design in 2019.
- Along with the neighboring Seaside Course, it is the home of the PGA TOUR’s RSM Classic, a FedEx cup event hosted by Love.
- Monday will feature 36 holes of continuous play following an 8 a.m. shotgun start with the final round taking place on Tuesday morning.

THE TEAM
- The lineup remains consistent from the opening event of the Spring season last month with just one change as Tim Peters will slot back in replacing Zach Smith while Alex Creamean, Jackson Saroney, Andres Barraza and Will Preston round out the five for the week.
- Creamean paces the Nittany Lions with a 70.35 stroke average through 17 rounds this season and hasn’t finished lower than T-21 in six events this season.
- Saroney and Barraza aren’t far behind averaging 72.65 and 73.24 joining Creamean as having played in each event this season and all 17 rounds.
- As a team, Penn State is averaging 288.24 per round this season.
