4x800-Meter Relay Teams Shine at Final Day of Penn Relays

Women’s, men’s teams earn program records

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State concluded its time at the Penn Relays with an impressive final day on Saturday, headlined by two records being rewritten in the 4x800-meter relay teams.

The women’s team set a program record when it ran a meet-winning 8:18.43. Allison Johnson, Tayissa Buchanan, Boh Ritchie and Hayley Kitching broke the previous mark set in 2023 by over five seconds.

A record-setting weekend continued for the Nittany Lions when Yukichi Ishii, Andrew Regnier, Niko Schultz and Allon Clay combined to run a 7:10.00 in the men’s 4x800-meter relay. The quartet broke the previous record of 7:11.17, set in 1985.   

EVENT SUMMARY

The final day began with the men’s high jump, where Trip Campbell tied his personal record set earlier this season. The freshman finished in third place, recording a 7-0.25 (2.14m). Robert Allen also jumped into a tie for 10th with his 6-7.00 (2.01m).

Tristan McGarrah nearly tied his personal record in the men’s pole vault as well, taking fifth place with a 16-11.50 (5.17m).

Moving to the throws, two Nittany Lions impressed during the women’s shot put. Skye Petrie-Cameron came in fifth at 52-2.00 (15.90m), an outdoor personal record. Sasha Garnett took seventh with 51-7.25 (15.73m).

Dylan Lambrecht led the way for Penn State in the men’s shot put championship, winning the event with a 63-5.00 (19.34m). Ryan Henry took second place at 62-0.50 (18.91m), while Bryce Thompson took sixth place, posting a 59-1.50 (18.02m).

The women’s javelin saw Audrey Friedman earn a fifth-place finish, throwing a 150-3.00 (45.81m). Nolan Carey took fourth in the men’s javelin with a 216-2.00 (65.89m).  

The only other running performance came in the men’s 4xmile relay. Ryan Watson, Nick Sloff, Brian DiCola and Justin Healey combined to run a 16:52.08.

Penn State concludes the regular season of its 2026 outdoor slate when in competes at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton, N.J. The two-day meet begins Friday, May 1 and concludes Saturday, May 2.
