Relays Highlight Impressive Day Two for Penn State in Philadelphia

Women’s sprint medley relay records fastest time in program history

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State concluded day two of the Penn Relays with several noteworthy accomplishments, including from the relay teams.

A program record was set when Addyson White, Alexandria North, Marie-Eloise LeClair and Hayley Kitching outpaced the field in the women’s sprint medley relay. The quartet of Nittany Lions ran a combined 3:42.35, breaking the previous record set in 2024 by 2.31 seconds.

The men’s 4x400-meter relay featured a solid showing from the blue and white. Carter Fitzgerald, Peyton Sommers, Matt DeMatteo and Jake Palermo qualified for Saturday’s championship with a 3:05.39, the 10th-fastest mark in program history.

Other noteworthy results from the Nittany Lions include the men’s discus, where senior Sam Engebretson came in fifth at 168-6.00 (51.37m).

Two athletes competed in the men’s pole vault college event as well. Mason Bucks finished in a tie for fifth at 15-11.75 (4.87m), while Breckin Swope threw a 15-5.75 (4.72m).

UP NEXT

Penn State wraps up the 130th Penn Relays Saturday with a slew of Nittany Lions set to compete. The men’s high jump and men’s pole vault championship begin the day’s events at 11:30 a.m., while the men’s 4x400-meter team will run at 2:45 p.m.
