Women's Golf Finishes Seventh at B1G Championships

Freshman Audrey Lam cards highest individual finish for a Nittany Lion in five years finishing the week tied for ninth at 4-over, 214.

GLENDALE, Calif.  – Penn State started the week strong and rebounded after a tough second round to finish the week seventh in the 18-team field at the 2026 B1G Championships this weekend at Oakmont Country Club.

In the 44-year history of the Big Ten Championship, the seventh-place finish this weekend marks the fifth-best finish in program history and the best since finishing sixth in 2021.

I am really proud of how the girls bounced back today after a tough round yesterday. They stuck to the game plan, and our putting was a major key—making big saves and capitalizing on birdie opportunities all week,” commented head coach Kristen Simpson. “I also loved how our team embraced the challenge of playing alongside No. 4 Oregon and No. 14 UCLA. We beat several strong teams, making this a great steppingstone for our young program, and I’m excited about what’s ahead.”

Penn State opened the week with a strong 4-over, 284, on Friday and entered the weekend tied for fourth, however, the Nittany Lions slid to ninth following the second round before climbing a pair of spots over the course of Sunday’s final round where they carded 9-over, 289, to finish the week 35-over, 875.

The 9-over, 289, on Sunday was tied for the second-lowest team total of the day only behind USC’s 8-over, 288, as no team registered red figures in the final round.

The second-ranked Trojans ran away from the field capturing the 2026 B1G Championship at 4-over, 844, 12 shots clear of Ohio State in second while Purdue (23-over) and Indiana (32-over) finished third and fourth, respectively, ahead of UCLA and Illinois in a tie for fifth at 33-over just ahead of the Nittany Lions.

Freshman Audrey Lam opened the weekend with a 2-under, 68, and finished the tournament 4-over, 214, and in a tie for ninth in the 90-player field, following rounds of 74 and 72. Her third top-10 finish of the year marks the best individual performance for a Nittany Lion at Big Tens since Sarah Willis ’24 finished tied for sixth in 2021.

Sophomore Jiratchaya Jiratthitinun sandiwched a 75 between a pair of 71's to finish the week 7-over, 217, and tied for 16th while her 1-over, 71, on Sunday was the best of the day for Penn State as she posted a team-best five birdies on the day.

“I’m very proud of Audrey and Yaya’s play this week. Both played smart, steady golf throughout the weekend, which is exactly what it takes to score well on a championship‑level course,” concluded Simpson.

Sophomore Hannah Rabb finished the week 11-over and tied for 29th while freshman Mara King shot 13-over in her first B1G Championships placing tied for 39th.
