Women's Golf Travels to Terps Invitational for Final Tune-up Ahead of B1G Championships

COLLEGE PARK, Md.  – The Penn State women's golf team will make the short trip east for the second-annual Terps Invitational hosted by Maryland and held at the University of Maryland Golf Course on Sunday and Monday.

The event will serve as the final tune up for the Nittany Lions ahead of the B1G Championships.

TERP_LINEUP

The tournament will feature a pair of 8:30 a.m. shotgun starts with 36 holes of continuous play scheduled for Sunday before a single 18-hole day for Monday’s final round.

The par-72, 6,244-yard, George W. Cobb designed course was built in 1958 and renovated in 2008 by Bill Love.
 
THE FIELD

  • Three additional Big Ten schools join the Nittany Lions as the host Terrapins along with Wisconsin and Michigan are set to tee it up this week while Delaware, Florida Atlantic, Georgetown, Harvard, High Point, JMU, Kentucky, Navy, Notre Dame, Richmond, Virginia and Yale round out the 16-team field.
  • The Nittany Lions finished tied for eighth in the 14-team field a year ago as part of the inaugural event that was won by Michigan with a score of 13-over. Then-freshman Jiratchaya Jiratthitinun carded a top-10 finish at 2-over and in a tie for seventh.

THE TEAM

  • Penn State’s Lineup remains consistent from its last few events with freshman Audrey Lam pacing the way along with fellow freshmen Mara King and Lillian Guleserian while sophomores Hannah Rabb and Yaya Jiratthitinun round out the starting five.
  • Sophomore Lauren Thompstone slots back in as the individual for the second-consecutive tournament after playing well last week in Georgia.
  • Lam, Rabb, Jiratthitinun and Guleserian have each competed in all eight events so far this season with Lam leading the way with a 72.22 stroke average and a pair of top-10 finishes.
  • Rabb isn’t far behind with a 73.00 stroke average while Jiratthitinun, Thompstone, and Guleserian are neck and neck at 73.65, 73.83 and 73.96, respectively.
