Men’s Tennis Drops Road Match Against No. 22 UCLA 1-6

The Nittany Lions are now 14-10 on the season

LOS ANGELES, Calif.- The Penn State men’s tennis team dropped its road match against No. 22 UCLA 1-6 on Saturday. The Nittany Lions are now 14-10 for the season. 

 

Freshman Kyle Chesman earned Penn State its only point by taking down Leo von Bismarck 6-1, 6-4 on court six. Chesman now has six conference singles wins. 

 

 

Doubles 

 

Michael Wright and David Lindsay were defeated by the No. 32 doubles team of Spencer Johnson and Emon van Loben Sels, 3-6. 

Reiya Hattori and Eyal Shyovitz fell to Andy Nguyen and Aadarsh Tripathi 3-6. 

Emil Matikainen and Christos Glavas were up 5-4 against Cassius Chinlund and Bengt Reinhard, but the match went unfinished since UCLA had already earned the doubles point. 

 

 

Singles 

 

Lindsay was defeated by Chinlund on court four 2-6, 1-6. 

Chesman defeated von Bismarck in spot six 6-1, 6-4. 

Wright was taken down by No. 25 singles player van Loben Sels 4-6, 3-6 on court one. 

Marcus Schoeman fell to Nguyen 2-6, 5-7 on court two. 

Hattori was defeated by Tripathi in spot three 3-6, 4-6. 

Shyovitz fell to Reinhard 3-6, 5-7 on court five.
