UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Two Penn State track and field athletes earned first-team All-Big Ten recognition this past weekend at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. The women’s team was represented by Hayley Kitching, while Allon Clay received the honor on the men’s side.
Kitching, a senior middle-distance runner, picked up All-Big Ten status during the outdoor season for the second time in her career. She took home the title in the 800m, doing so with a time of 2:01.77. That easily put her ahead of the runner-up time of 2:03.54. It was the second time Kitching won the 800m title at the Outdoor Championships. She also won in 2024.
It was a dominant weekend for Penn State in the 800m as Clay won the same event on the men’s side. He crossed the line in 1:46.58 in the final and also had the fastest time in the prelims with a 1:45.11. He won the event for the second-straight season while earning his second-straight first-team All-Big Ten award.
It was a clean sweep in the 800m for Penn State in the Big Ten this season. Kitching won the event at both the Big Ten Indoor and Outdoor Championships. Handal Roban took the title at the Indoor Championships for the men, just barely finishing ahead of Clay, who then won at the Outdoor Championships.
