UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Head Coach Kayla Treanor and the Penn State Women’s Lacrosse program have announced the addition of Mallory Hasselbeck to the coaching staff on Monday afternoon.
"Mallory has always had a special love for the game and a relentless desire to learn,” said Treanor. “From being the top recruit in the country to excelling at both Boston College and Stanford, she has consistently approached every opportunity with humility and determination. We're thrilled to welcome her to Penn State and know she has a bright future in coaching."
“I’m incredibly excited and truly grateful for the opportunity to join the Penn State Women’s Lacrosse family,” said Hasselbeck. “I can’t wait to get to Happy Valley and pursue championships alongside this amazing staff and team. I’m so fired up to get started. We Are!”
Hasselbeck heads to Happy Valley after a five-year playing career with stints at Boston College and, most recently, Stanford. During her time with the Eagles, Hasselbeck saw time in 46 games with a pair of All-Academic ACC Team selections. She was a member of the 2024 National Championship squad, won two ACC titles with the Eagles and secured a record of 77-14 at Chestnut Hill.
Hasselbeck had the best season of her career with the Cardinal. During her lone season with Stanford, the attacker notched career-highs in goals, assists, points and ground balls en route to the first ACC Runner Up and the first NCAA Quarterfinal appearance in Stanford lacrosse history. Hasselbeck was also named to the 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List as part of the first round of additions.
Prior to her time at Boston College, Hasselbeck was the top-ranked recruit in the country according to Inside Lacrosse while also being an Under Armour All-American, a member of the US U17 Development Team, the 2021 USA Lacrosse Jackie Pitts Award winner and a 13-time letterwinner in lacrosse, field hockey and ice hockey. Hasselbeck comes from a lineage of athletes. Her father, Matt, played in the NFL for 17 years, her uncle, Tim, spent six years in the NFL, her mother, Sarah, played field hockey at Boston College and her grandfather, Don, is also an NFL veteran.
Hasselbeck graduated from Boston College in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and finished her Post-Baccalaureate in Leadership from Stanford in 2026.
