Nine Penn State Women’s Hockey Members Named AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholars

GLOUCESTER, Mass. – Nine members of the Penn State women’s hockey team were named AHCA/Krampade All-American Scholars, the American Hockey Coaches Association announced Monday.

The honorees are recent graduates Taylor Lum, Katie DeSa, Tessa Janecke and Leah Stecker; rising juniors Abby Stonehouse, Grace Tullock and Taya MacDonald; and rising sophomores Sophie Morrow and Shelby Shane.

To earn the recognition, student-athletes must post at least a 3.75 grade-point average each semester while appearing in at least 40 percent of their team’s games.

Taylor Lum

Lum is a four-time honoree, earning the award three times at St. Lawrence University. She appeared in 38 games for Penn State as a graduate student, recording four goals and four assists for eight points.

Katie DeSa

DeSa is a three-time selection, previously earning the honor in 2023–24 and 2024–25.

She finished her Penn State career as the program’s all-time leader in shutouts (25), while also holding records for winning percentage (.818) and goals-against average (1.43).

A two-time AHA Goaltender of the Year and three-time All-AHA First Team selection, DeSa posted a 27–4 record in 2025–26, leading the NCAA with a program-record 12 shutouts and ranking second nationally with a 1.36 goals-against average.

Tessa Janecke

Janecke is a two-time honoree, first earning recognition in her rookie season.

She graduated as the most decorated player in program history, finishing as Penn State’s all-time leader in points (201), goals (89) and assists (112), while also setting records for shots (776), plus/minus (+112) and multi-goal games (17).

A three-time AHA Player of the Year and three-time Forward of the Year, Janecke became Penn State’s first First Team All-American in 2025–26 and a three-time USCHO/AHCA All-American.

She was the first-ever top-three finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award in 2025–26 and first-ever back-to-back top-10 finalist.

Internationally, Janecke won Olympic gold with Team USA at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Games and earned two gold medals at the IIHF Women’s World Championship, including scoring the overtime goal against Canada on April 13, 2025.

Leah Stecker

Stecker is a two-time honoree, earning recognition in 2025–26. She played in 151 career games, finishing with 12 goals and 45 assists for 57 points. In her senior season, she posted a career-high 20 points and a +29 rating while earning AHA Defenseman of the Week honors.

Taya MacDonald

MacDonald is a two-time selection, earning the honor as a freshman (2025-26). She appeared in all 39 games, recording three goals and eight assists for 11 points with a +38 rating, the third-best single-season mark in program history. MacDonald also ranked second on the team with 37 blocked shots. She scored her first career goal on Sept. 26, 2025, against #9 St. Lawrence added a season-high two assists on Nov. 15, 2025, in an 11–2 win over Syracuse.

Abby Stonehouse

Stonehouse earned the recognition for the first time after appearing in all 39 games. She finished with 14 goals (fifth on the team), 10 assists and 24 points, along with a +28 rating.

Grace Tullock

Tullock received the recognition for the first time after skating in all 39 games. She recorded seven assists, a +23 rating and 34 blocked shots.

Sophie Morrow

Morrow is a first-time honoree after a 39-game freshman season. She posted three goals and 13 assists for 16 points with a +30 rating and 26 blocked shots. Morrow recorded her first collegiate point in her debut on Sept. 25, 2025, against #9 St. Lawrence and added her first multi-point game on Oct. 10, 2025, at Delaware with a goal and two assists.

Shelby Shane

Shane is a first-time honoree after appearing in all 39 games as a rookie. She finished with one goal, three assists and a +9 rating. Shane recorded her first point on Oct. 4, 2025, at Vermont, assisted on the first-ever goal at West Shore Home Field at Beaver Stadium on Jan. 30, 2026, against Robert Morris, and scored her first collegiate goal on Feb. 6, 2026, at Lindenwood.
