UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men’s gymnastics head coach Tony Beck has rounded out his inaugural staff as the top man, adding Anthony Ingrelli as an assistant coach. Ingrelli, a graduate of Big Ten foe Nebraska, brings 15 years of coaching experience across a multitude of levels.
“I couldn’t be more excited to welcome Anthony to Penn State,” said Beck. “His experience, passion for the sport, and proven ability to develop athletes make him a tremendous addition to our program. With his wealth of experience developing national team members, World Team members, and an Olympic alternate, Anthony has consistently demonstrated his ability to help athletes reach their full potential. I’m excited to have him join our staff and look forward to the impact he will make on our student-athletes and our program.”

When athletes feel engaged the buy in is easy and contagious and everyone holds each other accountable. I believe Coach Beck and this team have the pieces to do something really special and being part of the process to put them together and find success within such a storied program is what drew me to Penn State. I’m looking forward to the work ahead.”
Most recently, Ingrelli served as the head coach at the Salto Gymnastics Center in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Since 2022, he has produced 13 NCAA D1 student-athletes including eight with full scholarships. He served as the primary trainer for Penn State alumnus Matthew Underhill, a multi-time All-American and one of the best rings athletes in recent years. Ingrelli is currently the National Apparatus Leader for still rings.
Another mentee of Ingrelli, Donnell Whittenburg excelled all the way up to the Team USA Men’s National Team. Whittenburg competed on behalf of the Stars and Stripes in eight different years, most recently earning the 2025 World still rings title. He served as an alternate for the 2024 and 2016 Olympic teams.
A Milwaukee, Wisconsin native, Ingrelli was a four-time NCAA event preliminary qualifier and earned All-American honors on the still rings at the 2010 NCAA Championships. In his collegiate career, he posted 12 individual rings titles, including a career high of 15.50 at the MPSF Championships in 2008.
