Season: Led the team in strikeouts with 66 and posted a 5-6 record over 67 1/3 innings with a 3.74 ERA, which ranked second among Penn State starters … Started 13 of 14 appearances … Limited opponents to two earned runs or less in nine of 14 appearances; Pitched at least five innings in nine of last 10 appearances. Army (2/20): Pitched six innings in his season debut and first career start, only giving up one earned run while striking out a career-high eight to earn his first career win. Niagara (3/19) Threw five scoreless innings in his one relief appearance and punched out five to earn his second win of the season. Purdue (4/2): Pitched a career high 7 1/3 innings, only allowing two runs and striking out seven to earn the win. Northwestern (4/16): Struck out five or more batters for a sixth straight game, registering six punchouts … Held Wildcats to one run on four hits and a walk in 6 2/3 innings to earn fourth win of the season. Maryland (4/30): Threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings and struck out three to pick up his fifth win in a combined shutout … It was Penn State’s first shutout in a Big Ten game since May 17, 2013 against Michigan State (9-0) and its third combined shutout of the season … No. 10 TCU (5/7): Allowed three runs on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts in five innings … At Nebraska (5/14), Iowa (5/20 G1): Struck out six and pitched five innings in final starts of the season … yielded three runs to the Huskers and one to Iowa.

Awards: Big Ten Baseball Co-Freshman of the Week (3/16-23). Season: Bullpen leader on the team in ERA (2.62) amongst those with more than five innings pitched and in strikeouts (31) … Tied for second on the team in appearances with 18 along with Marko Boricich and Jared Fagnano … Saved three games in consecutive outings … Second amongst relievers with 34.1 innings pitched … Did not allow a run in six consecutive appearances (3/18-4/5). At Elon (2/14 G1): Made debut in second game of the season, not allowing an earned run and striking out one in one inning. Canisius (3/18): Struck out the side in one inning of work … Began streak of six scoreless appearances. No. 21 Indiana (3/22): Continued strikeout dominance resulting in nine consecutive strikeouts dating back to Canisius game … Entered the first game against No. 21 Indiana in the eighth inning with a runner on third base, two outs and a tie score … Struck out that batter and the next five he faced, ultimately pitching through the 11th inning and not yielding a run … Matched season-high for innings pitched at 3 1/3 … For the week, posted a line of 4 1/3 innings pitched, one hit, no runs allowed, three walks and nine strikeouts to earn Big Ten Baseball Co-Freshman of the Week honors (3/16-23). Villanova (3/25) & Central Connecticut State (3/27, 29): Earned saves in three consecutive appearances, totaling four innings pitched and five strikeouts while yielding just two hits and two hit batsmen. At Ohio State (4/6): Matched season-high for third time with 3 1/3 innings pitched. Michigan (4/11): Held Wolverines scoreless over 2 2/3 innings. Illinois (4/26): Matched season-high of 3 1/3 innings for fourth time. At Michigan State (5/10): Struck out two in scorless 1 1/3 inning appearance.
