James Terry played in every game last year and teamed with Devon Still, Jordan Hill and DaQuan Jones to help form one of the nation[apos]s premier interior defensive lines. With the graduation of All-American Still, the talented and hard-working Terry should be among the primary challengers for considerable playing time at defensive tackle. A fifth-year senior, the former Brandywine High School all-state honoree was on schedule to graduate in August. This past summer, Terry participated in an internship with the State College Youth Services Bureau. He is among three returning Penn State football student-athletes from Delaware.
2011 Senior Season
Terry played in every game and recorded 10 tackles (five solo) for one of the nation[apos]s premier interior defensive lines. He made two stops in the season-opener with Indiana State and had one tackle against Eastern Michigan. After collecting one tackle in the Leaders Division matchup at Indiana, Terry made two stops apiece in the division tests against Purdue and Illinois. He finished the season by recording two tackles against Houston in the TicketCity Bowl. Terry saw action on 231 snaps, including a high of 28 against Eastern Michigan.
2010 Junior Season
Terry appeared in 12 games with one start on the defensive interior line. He made nine tackles and had one pass breakup for the season. Terry assisted on a pair of tackles in the opener against Youngstown State. He made three hits each against Iowa and Illinois, including a crucial stop against the Hawkeyes in the Red Zone. Terry made his first career start in the Nittany Lions[apos] 41-24 victory over Indiana at FedEx Field. He was on the field for 141 snaps, led by 30 against Youngstown State and 24 in the win over the Hoosiers.
2009 Sophomore Season
Terry spent some time on the offensive line, but by the end of the season was back at defensive tackle assisting one of the nation[apos]s top units. He saw action against Akron, Syracuse, Temple and Eastern Illinois and made two solo stops, including a sack for minus-seven yards against the Owls.
2008 Freshman Season

High School
Terry was a standout lineman for Coach Steve Dent at Brandywine HS. A football co-captain, he was second-team all-state and first-team all-conference as a junior. As a sophomore, Terry earned third-team all-state and first-team all-conference honors. He also was a member of the basketball team.
Personal
Full name is James Norman Terry. He is the son of Marta and Charles Cottman and has an older brother, Marcel. Terry enjoys playing video games and spending time with friends. He is a rehabilitation and human services major and would like to pursue a career as a youth counselor or football coach. Born March 18, 1990 in Chester, Pa.
