David New brings a great physical presence with him as he strives to have an early impact on Penn State[apos]s defense. At 6[apos]6', 240 pounds, New has the chance to be an intimidating presence as he gains more experience and adapts to the collegiate game.
HIGH SCHOOL/PERSONAL:
A three-year letterman at Fallston High School in Maryland, New[apos]s defense helped lead FHS to two county titles, one regional crown and one state runner-up finish. He was team captain as a junior and senior as well. A talented athlete, New lettered in volleyball and basketball for the Cougars and earned Distinguished Academic Honors, was in the National Honor Society and received the school[apos]s Academic Letter. New is the son of Michael and Christine New and has two sisters, Caroline and Sarah. Both his parents and sister Caroline are Penn State grads. David is majoring in mechanical engineering at PSU.
