2009-10 UPDATE (AS OF NOV. 13)
• Against Virginia Tech (10/31), won the 200 butterfly (2:01.86) for third-straight meet. Also placed third in the 500 freestyle (4:58.55) and third in the 200 IM (2:08.30).
• Finished first and fourth, respectively in the 200 butterfly (2:02.19) and 1,650 freestyle (17:16.93) against West Virginia/Colgate (10/24).
• Opened season with first-place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:03.87) at St. Bonaventure (10/13).
2008-09 (JUNIOR YEAR): Continued sensational collegiate success in junior campaign, capped off by another strong performance at the NCAA Championships. Competed in the 500 freestyle (4:49.96, 55th), 200 butterfly (1:57.17, 27th), 400 IM (4:13.59, 28th), 800 freestyle relay (7:12.98, 18th) and 400 medley relay (3:38.89, 20th) ... Strong showing at the Big Ten Championships included many times good enough for an NCAA Qualifying Cut ... Season best in 500 freestyle was 4:42.51 (preliminary), fourth overall while time of 4:42.80 was good for fifth-place and an NCAA `A' Qualifying Cut ... Third overall finish in the 200 butterfly (1:57.15) was also good enough for the `A' Qualifying Cut. Finished ninth in the 400 IM (4:11.94) ... Against Ohio State, was second in the 500 freestyle (4:53.53), 1000 freestyle (10:00.69) and 200 butterfly (2:01.01). The 1000 freestyle time was a season best ... Was first in the 1000 freestyle (10:04.34) and 200 backstroke (2:05.65) against Rutgers. Also competed in the 800 freestyle relay (7:41.04) ... One of four first-place 200 butterfly finishes came against Villanova/Pittsburgh/Maryland with a time of 2:02.37 ... In same meet, came in first in the 500 freestyle (4:56.57) and second in the 400 IM (4:21.41) ... Had a sensational performance at the Ohio State Invitational with NCAA `B' Qualifying times in three events, the 500 freestyle (4:49.34, 10th), 200 butterfly (1:59.09, third) and 400 IM. Also came in sixth in the 800 freestyle relay (7:28.35) ... At the Virginia/Florida State meet, was fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:53.96), fifth in the 1000 freestyle (10:06.82) and third in the 200 butterfly (2:01.22) ... Only 200 IM race was against Southern Methodist with a time of 2:07.37. Was also fourth in the 500 freestyle (4:55.21) ... Won both the 200 butterfly (2:00.70) and 400 IM (4:24.81) against Texas A&M ... Came in first in both the 200 backstroke (2:05.44) and 200 butterfly (2:02.80) in the home opener against Richmond ... Opened the season with two first-place finishes at West Virginia in the 200 butterfly (2:03.66) and 400 IM (4:24.03) ... Was named an Academic All-Big Ten honoree. SUMMER 2008: Swam in the U.S. Olympic Trials as part of club team, North Baltimore Aquatic Club ... Placed 23rd in the 200 fly, just outside of qualifying for a second swim ... Also claimed 25th in the 400 IM and competed in the 400 free. 2007-08 (SOPHOMORE YEAR): Added two All-America recognitions to resume ... Got second-straight Honorable Mention All-America laurel in the 200 fly, finishing 13th ... Used a career-best time to make the consolation finals in the event ... Also earned an Honorable Mention All-America accolade in the 800 freestyle relay. Squad tied with Princeton for 16th to take the honor ... At Big Ten's, broke a four-year school and Big Ten record in the 200 fly that stood for only a day before teammate Kelly Nelson swam only a half second faster in the finals ... Took fourth in the event. Placed eighth in the 500 free and 14th in the 400 IM ... On the season, took first a total of five times, second three times and third twice ... Swam fastest 200 back time against West Virginia ... Claimed second in the 200 fly in Penn State's Quad Meet ... Swam only 800 free relay of the regular season at Hoosierland, earning sixth ... Won only 500 free of the season in a quad-meet at Pittsburgh ... Had a first-place finish in the 1000 free versus West Chester ... Took first-place honors in the 400 medley relay at Florida-Gulf Coast. SUMMER 2007: Had a very successful summer, excelling in two meets ... At the Eric Namesnik Memorial Grand Prix, swam in six individual events and two relays, qualifying for the finals in all six individual events. Finished 21st in the 200 freestyle, 18th in the 400 free, 15th in the 200 backstroke, fourth in the 200 butterfly, 13th in the 200 IM and ninth in the 400 IM ... Was also a part of the second-place 800 free relay team and the third-place 400 free relay team ... At the U.S. Nationals, placed 22nd in the 400 free, 16th in the 200 fly and 12th in the 400 IM, once again qualifying for the finals in every individual event in which she swam ... In the relays at Nationals, was on the fifth-place 400 medley and 17th-place 400 free relays teams. 2006-07 (FRESHMAN YEAR): Made a grand entrance onto the college swimming scene as a freshman capped off by an NCAA appearance ... Quickly became one of the top and most versatile swimmers on the team ... Was one of three freshmen that qualified for NCAA Championships and became an Honorable Mention All-American with a 13th-place finish in the 200 butterfly while also swimming personal best times in all three events at NCAAs ... Swam the 500 freestyle, 200 fly and 400 IM at NCAAs and also picked up points for Penn State in all three of those events at the Big Ten Championships, finishing 10th in the 500 free, fifth in the 200 fly and 13th in the 400 IM ... Also logged NCAA `B' qualifying times during the season, coming just 0.37 of a second short of an `A' time in the 200 fly ... Had the fastest time on the team in the 200 fly, the second fastest time in the 500 free, the third fastest in the 1000 free and the fourth quickest in the 400 IM ... Logged five first-place finishes on the season, all in individual events, and also had seven second-place finishes and four third places ... Showcasing her dominance in the 200 fly, 10 of her 11 swims of the year in that event produced at least an NCAA `B' time ... Started the year off at West Virginia with a second-place finish in the 200 fly and as part of the 400 medley relay team. Also, a third-place finish as part of the 400 free relay ... Won first race of the year with a first-place finish in the 200 fly and also placed fifth in the 200 IM and second in the 400 IM at the Clemson/Virginia/Virginia Tech quad meet ... Finished second in the 100 back and 200 fly and fourth in the 200 IM at the Big Cat Invitational ... Picked up points for Penn State in the 500 free (10th place), 200 fly (sixth), 400 IM (eighth, fourth in the prelims) and as a part of the 400 medley relay team (sixth) while also swimming on the 400 free relay team at the Bell Grand Prix ... Won the 1000 free in only swim of the year in that event and was on the second-place 200 medley relay team in the dual meet vs. West Chester ... Won the 200 fly and was a part of the fourth-place 200 medley relay team vs. Ohio State ... Won the 500 free, placed second in the 200 fly and third in the 200 IM vs. Rutgers ... Won the 500 free, placed fifth in the 100 back, third in the 200 back (in her first swim of the year in that event) and third in the 400 IM at the Shamrock Invitational. HIGH SCHOOL: Was the champion in the 100 butterfly at Easterns freshman and sophomore seasons ... The summer following junior season, placed sixth in the 200 butterfly at the USA Swimming Summer Nationals ... As a senior, was a finalist at the USA Swimming spring championships and once again at the summer nationals ... Was a high school All-American, as well as a USA Swimming Academic All-American while swimming at Lewisburg Area High School ... An extremely talented young swimmer who has qualified for the Olympic Trials in three events. PERSONAL: Full name is Kailey Brynne Morris ... Born on October 25, 1987 in Albany, N.Y. ...
