2006-07: Maureen swam in the middle and distance freestyle events, contributing to the team mainly in dual meet and making visable strides during the season as she got acclimated to collegiate swimming. She put up her best times of the year by far in her three main events - the 200, 500 and 1650 freestyles - at Big Ten Championships. She finished 32nd in the 1650 free at Big Ten[apos]s and improved her best time by nearly 25 seconds. Her best finish of the year was a third place finish as part of a relay team and a sixth place finish individually.
Meet-by-Meet Highlights: Finished sixth in the 500 free in her first collegiate meet, the dual meet at West Virginia....Was on the eighth place 200 free relay team at the Clemson/Virginia/Virginia Tech/Penn State quad-meet....Part of the third place 200 medley relay team at the dual meet vs. West Chester....Finished 12th in the 1650 free at the Shamrock Invitational as she was one of the seven Penn State swimmers to place in the top 16 of that event.
High School: Maureen was a four-year member of the swimming team at Hopewell High School in Huntersville, N.C. She was voted most valuable swimmer and was the recipient of the Iron Woman award. She also received the senior student-athlete award and was a member of the honor roll.
Personal: Maureen was born on March 8, 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio. She is the daughter of Joseph and Mary-Elaine Hart. She has a younger sister, Catherine, and two younger brothers, Kevin and Michael. Her aunt and uncle, Peggy and Kevin Hart, both attended Penn State, and Kevin played football for the Nittany Lions. Her cousin, Michael Hart, is currently a member of the Penn State football team and her father, Joe, played football at Western Michigan. She will be majoring in business at Penn State.
