2007-08: Caitlin competed in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes at the U.S. Olympic Trials in Omaha, Neb. She earned Academic All-Big Ten Winter Honors for her studies in human development and family studies. At the NCAA championships, she placed 19th in the 200-medley relay. She earned 27th in both the breaststroke and freestyle events at the Big Ten Championships. She had a 12th- and 13th-place finish in the 100- and 200-breast, respectively. Overall, she picked up 17 first-place victories, eight second-place marks and three third-place finishes in eight events. Meet-by-Meet Results: Took first in the 100- and 200-breaststroke events....Came away with wins in both breast-stroke events against Virginia, Michigan State and Purdue....Had a time under 2:16 in the 200 breaststroke at the Hoosierland Invitational....Tallied her fastest times of the season in the 100 breast, 200 breast, 200 freestyle relay and 400 free relay at the Princeton Big Al Invitational....Second-place finish in the 200-medley relay in a quad-meet in Pittsburgh....Swam the 50 free for the only time all season and finished third against West Chester...200 medley relay team recorded its fastest time of the season in a win against Rutgers.
Summer 2007: Caitlin had a successful summer as she swam in three events and put up some impressive numbers at all three meets. At the Grand Prix series Charlotte Ultraswim, she placed ninth in the 100 breaststroke and 19th in the 200 breaststroke. At the Mid-Atlantic Senior Championships, she finished second in the 200 breast, 17th in the 200 IM and was a part of the first place 400 medley relay team along with Michelle Myers, Kelly Nelson and Molly Crispell that also set a meet record time of 4:18.84. She capped off the summer with a 21st-place finish and best times at U.S. Nationals in the 200 breast.
2006-07: Caitlin had a breakout meet at the Big Ten Championships, knocking several seconds off her career best times in all three of her main events, the 100 and 200 breaststrokes and 200 IM and just narrowly missing out on qualifying for NCAA Championships. She swam NCAA `B[apos] qualifying times in both breaststoke events and had the fastest time of the year on the team in the 200 breast heading into NCAA[apos]s, only to finish the year with the second fastest by only .05 of a second to Kaitlin O[apos]Brien. Caitlin also had the second fastest time of the year on the team in the 100 breast. At Big Ten[apos]s, she scored points for Penn State in both breaststroke events, swimming to a third place finish in the 100 breast and a fifth place finish in the 200 breast in a time that was over three seconds better than her previous best time. Her third place finish in the 100 breast at Big Ten[apos]s was her best individual finish of the year. She also had three fourth place finishes and a second place in a relay. Meet-by-Meet Highlights: Finished eighth in the 50 free at the dual meet at West Virginia....Placed eighth in the 100 breast and was on the eighth place 200 free relay team at the Clemson/Virginia/Virginia Tech/Penn State quad-meet....Picked up points for Penn State in the 100 breast (16th place) and as a member of the 400 medley relay team and also swam in the 200 breast and 200 IM at the Bell Grand Prix....Placed fourth in the 100 back and was on the second place 200 medley relay team at the dual meet vs. West Chester....Was on the fourth place 200 medley relay team in the dual meet vs. Ohio State....Finished second in the 100 breast with her fastest time of the year and the third fastest of her career in the dual meet vs. Rutgers....Swam her the fastest times of her career in the 200 IM and the 200 breast, finishing fourth in the 200 breast and also placed fifth in the 100 breast at the Shamrock Invitational.
2005-06: Caitlin did not swim in every meet of the year as she dealt with an injury for the majority of the year, but her hard work and improvement during the season allowed her to finish the year on a high note with her best performances of the year, ones that hopefully will carry over to her sophomore year. She placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke at the Big Ten Championships, one of two Penn State swimmers to place in the top eight in that event. She swam her best time of the year in the preliminaries of the 100 breaststroke and then topped it once again in the finals. She also swam her best time of the year in the 200 breaststroke at the Big Ten Championships. In the early part of the year, she swam on some medley relay teams and was a part of one first place medley relay squad._Meet-by-Meet Highlights: Picked up points for the Nittany Lions with a sixth place finish in the 100 breast at the dual meet vs. Florida....Took eighth in the 100 breast and was on the fifth place 400 medley relay team and fourth place 200 medley relay team at the Auburn/Purdue/Virginia/Penn State quad-meet....Was part of the first place 200 medley relay team and also took third in the 100 breast at the Arizona State/UCSB/Penn State tri-meet....Swam on the second place 400 medley relay team and took second in the 200 breast in an exhibition race in the dual meet with West Virginia.
High School: Caitlin came to Penn State after an outstanding high school career at West Chester East High School. She was the 2005 Pennsylvania State Champion in the 100 breaststroke. Also faring well at the 2005 Junior Nationals in Orlando, Meehan finished fourth in the 100 breaststroke and fifth in the 200 breaststroke. She also was a member of the National Honor Society.
Personal: Caitlin lists cheering for the Philadelphia sports teams and spending time with friends as pastimes. She is the daughter of Helen and Michael Meehan and has a twin sister, Erin, and a brother, Michael, as well as over 40 first cousins. She is majoring in human development and family studies at Penn State.
