• Has been strong in early stages of senior season, finishing first or second in every race thus far.
• Finished first in the 100 butterfly (56.55) and 200 medley relay (1:44.55) while placing second in the 50 freestyle (23.61) and 400 freestyle relay (3:25.52) at Virginia Tech (10/31).
• Won both the 400 freestyle relay (3:25.49) and 400 medley relay (3:48.92) while finishing second in the 50 freestyle (23.61) against West Virginia/Colgate (10/24).
• In the season-opener at St. Bonaventure (10/13), swam to first-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:50.74), second in the 50 freestyle (24.88) while also competing in the 200 freestyle relay (1:38.60).
SUMMER 2009: Competed in numerous events at the prestigious U.S. Swimming Championships in Indianapolis ... Was 27th in the 100m backstroke (1:03.39), 30th in the 200m backstroke (2:16.88) and 73rd in the 50m freestyle (27.10) ... Also took part in the U.S. Open in Seattle, Wash. ... Finished eighth in the 'B' Finals of the 100m backstroke (1:03.79) ... Also swam in the preliminary races of both the 50m freestyle and 100m butterfly. 2008-09 (JUNIOR YEAR): Impressed in third collegiate season, earning 15 first-place finishes while placing in the top five in all but four races all year (41 of 45) ... Was also named an Honorable Mention CSCAA Scholar All-American and an Academic All-Big Ten honoree ... At the Big Ten Championships, had an NCAA `A' Qualifying Cut time of 22.58 in the 50 freestyle, good for fourth overall, while preliminary race time (22.60) was fifth ... Also placed 13th in the 100 freestyle (50.08) and 100 backstroke (54.53, preliminary), fifth in the 200 freestyle relay (1:30.98), third in the 400 freestyle relay (3:18.40) and fourth in the 200 (1:38.74) and 400 (3:36.37) medley relays. Each time marked a season best for that particular competition ... Against Ohio State, swam to first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (23.90) and 400 medley relay (3:46.28) and two second-place finishes in the 100 backstroke (55.85) and 400 freestyle relay (3:24.50) ... Won three races against Rutgers (1/24), the 50 freestyle (23.62), 100 backstroke (56.35) and 200 medley relay (1:43.78). Also participated in only 800 freestyle relay of the season ... Was second in the 50 freestyle (23.65) and 100 backstroke (57.18), first in the 200 (1:33.61) and 400 (3:25.76) freestyle relays and first in the 200 (1:45.36) and 400 (3:45.01) medley relays against Villanova/Pittsburgh/Maryland (1/16-17) ... At the Ohio State Invitational, (12/5-7) came in fifth in the 50 (22.89, preliminary) and 100 (50.46) freestyle, second in the 100 backstroke (54.98, preliminary), sixth in the 100 butterfly (54.87, preliminary), second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:19.52), third in the 200 medley relay (1:41.32) and second in the 400 medley relay (3:39.96) ... All three relay times were good for the NCAA `B' Qualifying Cut while the 100 butterfly and 400 medley relay performances were both season bests ... Strong performance against Virginia/Florida State (11/15) included winning the 50 freestyle (23.20) and 400 freestyle relay (3:23.14) while coming in fifth in the 100 butterfly (56.28) and second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:33.29) and 400 medley relay (3:44.85) ... Swam to first-place finishes in the 50 freestyle (23.57) and 100 backstroke (56.16) against Southern Methodist (11/1). Also finished second in the 200 freestyle relay (1:33.47) ... Against Texas A&M (10/31), was second in both the 400 freestyle relay (3:25.56) and 400 medley relay (3:43.46) and third in the 50 freestyle (23.35) ... Took first and second, respectively, in the 50 freestyle (23.93) and 100 butterfly (57.58) in the first home meet of the season against Richmond (10/24) ... Opened by placing first in the 200 medley relay (1:45.81) and second in the 50 freestyle (23.74) at West Virginia (10/22). SUMMER 2008: Fared well in the U.S. Olympic Trials ... Was 22nd in the 100 back, 27th in the 200 backstoke and 59th in the 50 free ... Finished third in the 50 backstroke at the Charlotte Ultraswim Grand Prix. 2007-08 (SOPHOMORE YEAR): Earned two Honorable Mention All-America awards at the NCAA Championships ... Was a part of an 800 free relay team that tied Princeton for 16th and a 400 medley relay team, which also landed in 16th ... Was close to adding two other honorable mention awards, coming in 18th and 19th in the 100 backstroke and 200 medley relay, respectively ... At the Big Ten Championships, finished fourth in the 50 free and sixth in the 100 back, 400 free relay and 200 medley relay. Was 10th in the conference in the 100 free ... Came in first-place 25 different times in individual and relay events. SUMMER 2007: Had a busy summer season, competing in four meets: the Eric Namesnik Memorial and Charlotte Ultraswim of the Grand Prix series, the Mid-Atlantic Senior Championships and U.S. Nationals ... At the Eric Namesnik Memorial, placed 11th in the 100 back and 14th in the 200 back ... At the Charlotte Ultraswim, was 20th in both the 50 and 100 free, fourth in the 100 back and eighth in the 200 back ... Was also part of the 400 free and medley relay teams, both of which finished third ... At the Mid-Atlantic Championships, was part of both the 400 medley and 800 free relays teams that won and set meet records in the process. Also placed seventh in the 200 free and second in the 200 back at Mid-Atlantic's ... At U.S. Nationals, finished ninth in the 100 back and 14th in the 200 back. 2006-07 (FRESHMAN YEAR): Quickly became Penn State's top freestyle sprinter and one of the top backstrokers on the team while being a fixture on all five relay teams ... At the Big Ten Championships, scored points in both the 50 and 100 freestyles, becoming the first Penn State swimmer to score in those two events at Big Tens since 2005 ... Placed 15th in both events and also placed fifth in the 100 backstroke in addition to being a part of the seventh-place 200 free, the third-place 200 medley and the fourth-place 400 medley relay teams ... Narrowly missed out on an NCAA; was part of four relay teams that swam NCAA `B' qualifying times and also had `B' cuts in three individual events: the 50 and 100 free and the 100 back ... Swam team's fastest times of the year in those same three events as well and was a part of the fastest times of the year for the 200 and 400 free and 200 and 400 medley relay teams ... On the year, posted two first-place finishes in individual events and seven first-places as part of relay teams. Also had nine second and seven third-places finishes overall ... Placed second in the 100 free, was on the third-place 400 free relay team and the second-place 400 medley relay team at first collegiate meet, the season-opening dual at West Virginia ... Finished eighth in the 100 free, fourth in the 100 back, second as part of the 200 and 400 free relay teams, and was also on the first-place 200 and 400 medley relay teams at the Clemson/Virginia/Virginia Tech quad meet ... Won the 100 back and finished fourth in the 100 free at the Big Cat Invitational ... Picked up points for Penn State in the 50 free (fifth-place), 100 free (seventh), 100 back (seventh) and as part of the 400 free (sixth) and 400 medley (third) relay teams ... Also swam an NCAA `B' time in the 100 free while leading off the finals of the 400 free relay at the BGP ... Swam personal season fastest times in the 50 and 100 free and 100 back as well ... Placed second in the 200 free vs. West Chester ... Swam on the first-place 200 free relay team and the 200 medley relay team that tied for first vs. Ohio State ...
