Named the Associate Assistant Director for Strategic Communications in March 2015. Nelson is in his 23rd year with Penn State Athletics.
Nelson served as the Penn State football primary Communications contact from 1993 through the 2014 season. His primary duties consist of ICA Communications strategies, media relations and serving as the department's primary spokesperson, while overseeing a staff of 12.
Preceding Penn State, Nelson was a member of the College of the Holy Cross sports information staff for eight years, serving as Sports Information Director the last six years.
Nelson earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Indiana University. He lives in State College with his wife, Julia, and three children.
