Liz Johnson enters her fifth year at Penn State, currently serving as the Director of Student-Athlete Welfare and Development (SWD).
Johnson oversees career development, community service initiatives and serves as an advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Board (SAAB)as well as a facilitator for the Athletic Director’s Leadership Institute. In her role, she provides services, information and resources to more than 800student-athletes to enhance their professional and personal development and help position them for success during and after their time at Penn State.
Johnson previously spent two years as an academic advisor and education assistant in the Morgan Academic Center and was also the director of football academics and academic advisor at Idaho State from 2011-14.
Johnson earned a bachelor’s degree in history from East Stroudsburg University, where she was also a member of the Warriors volleyball team and is the program’s single-season leader in assists per game (10.89) and career leader in assists per game (10.01). She earned a master’s degree in sport and fitness administration at Winthrop University while also serving as a graduate assistant in Academic and Student-Athlete Services.
