Head Women’s Gymnastics Coach Jennifer Green announced the addition of Sharon Kelly to her inaugural staff at Penn State on September 14. Kelly currently serves as the associate head coach for the Nittany Lions.
Kelly comes to Penn State after a year-long stint with Air Force along with Green for one of the most successful campaigns in program history. Under the pair’s tutelage, Air Force finished the season ranked 36th in the country, the third-highest finish in program history and the highest end-of-season mark since 2002, as the Falcons qualified for NCAA Regionals for the first time since the 2002 season. During her year at Air Force, Kelly helped the Falcons garner 46 total Mountain West Conference weekly awards in 2026 with 10 All-Conference honors. Prior to becoming the associate head coach with the Falcons, Kelly served as a consulting coach for Green and Air Force Gymnastics by providing external guidance in fine-tuning both coaches’ and gymnasts’ approach to competition.
Kelly has an ocean of experience in gymnastics thanks to her decades in the sport. She served as Education Chairman for Georgia USA Gymnastics and was acting Event Director for the Georgia National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges. In 2005, Kelly founded Ultimate Gymnastics, a Level 10/Elite developmental program in Duluth, Georgia and has since become a launching point for an abundance of future NCAA and Junior Olympic gymnasts.
