Will Otto is an athletic performance coach at Penn State University working with women’s soccer and men & women’s swim and dive.
Prior to Penn State, Otto was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Rutgers University. During his time at Rutgers, he had the opportunity to work with Volleyball, Softball, Field Hockey, Men and Women’s Lacrosse, and Track & Field.
Prior to Rutgers University, Otto was an assistant strength and conditioning coach at California State University-Fullerton for 7 years. During his time at CSUF, he had the opportunity to work with all 13 teams in either a primary or assistant role. Men and Women’s Soccer, Men’s Basketball, Men and Women’s Track and Field, and Women’s Tennis were the main teams Otto worked with the most as well as being internship director for the weight room providing up-and-coming strength and conditioning professionals hands-on experience within the profession.
Will is a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is also part of the USA Weightlifting organization as an Advanced Sport Performance Coach.
A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Will had the opportunity to play football for the Cornhuskers during the 2004-2005 seasons as a Fullback. He went on to pursue a master’s degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis on strength and conditioning from California State University-Fullerton studying under Dr. Lee Brown and Dr. Jared Coburn. Otto’s thesis was accepted by the journal of strength and conditioning research “Effects of weightlifting vs. kettlebell training on vertical jump, strength, and body composition”.
