Myford Joins Nittany Lions' Athletic Staff as Associate Athletic Director

STATE COLLEGE, Pa., November 4, 2004 - Greg Myford has joined the Penn State athletic administration as Associate Athletic Director for Marketing and Communications, Tim Curley, Director of Athletics, announced today.

Myford is returning to his alma mater after spending the past 12 years with Palace Sports & Entertainment. He most recently served as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development, working with the National Hockey League's Tampa Bay Lightning, the Arena Football League's Tampa Bay Storm and the St. Pete Times Forum, home of the Lightning and Storm.

Myford's responsibilities will include oversight of marketing and promotions, the athletic ticket operation, sports information, publications and www.GoPSUsports.com, the official website of Penn State Athletics. Much of his attention will be focused on working with the recently created Football and Basketball MarCom (Marketing and Communications) unit, expanding the services of the athletic ticket operation and developing new and expanding existing revenue opportunities. His appointment is effective November 26.

From Grove City, Pa., Myford graduated with honors from Penn State in 1986, earning a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. He began his career in athletics with Home Team Sports, a regional sports network based in metropolitan Washington. D.C. He served as Promotions Coordinator from 1987 through April 1989, when he was promoted to Senior Account Executive, serving in that position until October 1992.

Myford left HTS in '92, beginning a 12-year association with Palace Sports & Entertainment. From 1992-2003 he was based in Auburn Hills, Mich., serving in several different capacities for the National Basketball Association's Detroit Pistons, the WNBA's Detroit Shock, the AFL's Detroit Fury, the DTE Energy Music Theater and The Palace of Auburn Hills.

He began his career with Palace Sports & Entertainment as a Senior Account Executive for two years, was Director of Sports Sponsorship Sales for two years and Vice President of Sponsorship Development for 2 1/2 years. From August 1999-2003, Myford served as Senior Vice President, leading the company's sponsorship and business development.

During the past year, Myford has been Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at PS&E's operation in Tampa, Fla. Among his primary responsibilities have been management of all corporate marketing and client service businesses, and strategic planning for team and entertainment ticket sales, marketing and advertising, website, public relations and community relations.

Myford and his wife, Karen, have two daughters, Madeline and Miranda.
