Griffith walked to move Wolfer to second and then Ashley Esparza (San Pedro, Calif.) drove a single to the outfield to load the bases. Kinley then belted a single to center field to score Wolfer and Griffith. Hollee Haines (Riverside, Calif.) stepped to the plate next and hit Penn State's third straight single to score Esparza for the game-tying run.

The Lions had a chance to win the game in the bottom of the seventh after Zielinski lined a double down the right field line, but could not tally the winning run until the eighth inning.

Pitcher Ashley Esparza and the Lion defense held Texas scoreless in the eighth inning after Haines was able to pick off the runner stealing third.
