UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; August 14, 2007 - The Big Ten Network is holding a special dinner in State College to celebrate its Aug. 30 launch.
The free buffet dinner will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, at the Ramada Inn, 1450 South Atherton Street. Penn State Athletic Director Tim Curley and Kevin Weiberg from the Big Ten Network will be available to answer questions about the new national cable network, that will feature the Nittany Lions in athletics, campus activities and academic programs. There also will be some free Big Ten Network giveaways at the dinner.

The Big Ten Network will air more than 600 hours of Penn State programming during its inaugural year. The vast majority of Penn State's 29 varsity sports, if not all, will be featured on the Big Ten Network in 2007-08, in addition to at least 60 hours of institutional, non-athletic programming.
A minimum of three Penn State football games will air on the Big Ten Network this season. The Nittany Lions' season opener against Florida International (Sept. 1, noon) and home contest against Buffalo (Sept. 15, noon) are set to air on the network. Penn State also will make at least one appearance on the Big Ten Network during the eight-game conference schedule
The Big Ten announced the 2007-08 conference men's basketball schedule today and at least 15 of the Nittany Lions' conference contests will air on the Big Ten Network. The conference women's basketball schedule and the men's non-conference slate will be announced later this month
