UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's soccer team (2-4-1) will welcome Ivy League foe Pennsylvania (1-3-2) to Jeffrey Field on Wed., Sept. 26 for a non-conference match-up scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Nittany Lions opened Big Ten Conference play last weekend on the road versus Michigan State, earning a 2-2 tie. The draw was Penn State's first versus a league opponent since 2004, a 0-0 tie with Michigan in Ann Arbor.
Junior forward Jason Yeisley (Allentown, Pa.) scored his team-high third and fourth goals of the season to headline the Penn State attack versus the Spartans. Freshman forward Treavor Gelsinger (Shady Grove, Pa.) tallied his team-best third assist on Yeisley's first goal, along with sophomore midfielder Frank Costigliola (Dix Hills, N.Y.). Andres Casais (Caracas, Venezuela), a freshman defender, found Yeisley with a pass to record an assist on his second goal.
Senior goalkeeper Conrad Taylor (Colorado Springs, Colo.) played all 110 minutes in goal for Penn State. He faced a barrage of 21 Michigan State shots, recording nine saves.
Pennsylvania enters Wednesday's game coming off back-to-back 1-1 ties with La Salle and Lehigh. Junior midfielders Alex Grendi (5 points) and Kevin Unger (4 points) have arose as the Quakers' top offensive threats through their first six games. After allowing six goals in a season opening loss to Seton Hall, the Pennsylvania defensive has stiffened, giving up six in the past five games. Goalkeeper Drew Healy, a junior, has started five games, amassing 22 saves and a 1.10 goals against average.
Penn State owns an 18-5-3 all-time record in games versus Pennsylvania, but the two teams have not met on the pitch in 10 years. The Nittany Lions came away the victors in the 1997 Penn State Nike Classic match-up, downing the Quakers, 1-0, at Jeffrey Field.

The key conference clash, which will be broadcast live to a national television audience, will mark the debut of Penn State men's soccer on the Big Ten Network. The Nittany Lions have dominated their series with the Wildcats, compiling a 20-1-1 all-time record, including two wins last season.
