Penn State Student-Athletes to Welcome ??Penn?? Pal Students on Monday


UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; April 12, 2007 ?? Nearly 100 Penn State student-athletes will welcome more than 150 students from Central Pennsylvania, who are participating in Intercollegiate Athletics?? ??Penn?? Pal program.

The Seventh Annual ??Penn?? Pal Carnival will take place on Monday, April 16 from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., in the HUB??s Alumni Hall. The students participating in the ??Penn?? Pal Carnival are fourth, fifth and sixth graders from three area schools: Moshannon Valley Elementary (Houtzdale), Jackson Miller Elementary (Huntingdon), Port Matilda Elementary.

During the students?? visit, Penn State student-athletes will speak on the topics of communication and cooperation. There also will be sport demonstrations and small group activities that focus on the importance of teamwork for the visiting students.

The ??Penn?? Pal program is part of Intercollegiate Athletics?? ??Nagle CHAMPS/Life Skills?? program, coordinated by the Morgan Academic Support Center for Student-Athletes.

This year, there were 28 classrooms that participated in the letter writing program and nearly 100 Penn State student-athletes.
