No. 12 Women's Gymnastics Falls To No. 10 Arkansas

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -

The 12th-ranked Penn State women's gymnastics team fell to No. 10 Arkansas, 195.250-194.625, Friday night in Fayetteville, Ark. As a team, Penn State recorded scores of 48.700 on vault, 48.900 on bars, 48.350 on beam and 48.675 while Arkansas posted scores of 49.025 on vault, 48.700 on bars, 48.425 on beam and 49.10 on floor.

Sophomore Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) finished second in the all-around with a 38.850 while sophomore Alexandra Brockway (Macungie, Pa.) claimed third with a 38.450. Arkansas' Casey Jo Magee took home the all-around title with a 39.200.

Penn State opened up the meet on the uneven bars, with Personett scoring a career-best 9.875 to place first. Sophomore Lindsey Montross (Roseville, Calif.) tallied a season-high-tying 9.800 to tie for fourth as Brockway and sophomore Rosie Smith (Waterford, Pa.) each scored a 9.750. Freshmen Danielle Hover (Hamburg, N.Y.) and Kristina Beck (Jacksonville, Fla.) closed out the Lion scorers with a 9.725 and an 8.775, respectively.

In the second rotation on vault, Personett captured her second consecutive title with a meet-high 9.875. Brockway and senior Aslynn Satterfield (Boalsburg, Pa.) both recorded scores of 9.725 while Beck added in a 9.700, sophomore Casey Rohrbaugh (Spring Grove, Pa.) tallied a 9.675 and Smith notched a 7.000.

Penn State went into the third rotation on floor trailing 97.725-97.600. Personett recorded her third consecutive 9.900 to tie for first while Satterfield claimed third with a season-high 9.875. Beck and freshman Heather McElwee (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) posted a 9.675 and a 9.625, respectively, as Rohrbaugh tallied a 9.600 and Brockway tallied a 9.200. Arkansas was forced to count a fall on beam, putting Penn State ahead 146.175 to 146.150 heading into the fourth rotation.

However, beam proved to be the downfall for the Nittany Lions as well as Penn State also had to count a fall. Brockway and McElwee were the Lions' top scorers with a third-place 9. 775 while Rohrbaugh and Hover both posted a 9.750 and Montross and Personett recorded a 9.300 and a 9.200, respectively.

Penn State returns home on Saturday, Feb. 2 to host West Virginia in a double-dual with the Nittany Lion men's team against Minnesota at 2:00 p.m. at Rec Hall.
