RALEIGH, N.C. - The 18th-ranked Penn State women's gymnastics team finished second with a team score of 194.775 at No. 24 North Carolina State Saturday night. The Wolfpack claimed the overall team title with a 195.150 while Kent State finished third (194.025) and William & Mary placed fourth (189.625).
Penn State recorded a season-high 49.175 on vault along with a 48.375 on bars, a 48.250 on beam and a 48.975 on floor.
Sophomore Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) captured her third individual all-around title of the year with a season-high 39.375 while sophomore Casey Rohrbaugh (Spring Grove, Pa.) equaled her career high with a fifth-place 38.800.
The Nittany Lions began the meet on bars and sophomore Alexandra Brockway (Macungie, Pa.) earned her fourth individual crown of the year with a 9.875. Personett placed third with a 9.825 while freshman Danielle Hover (Hamburg, N.Y.) tied her career high with a 9.725. Rohrbaugh scored a 9.575 and sophomore Rosie Smith (Waterford, Pa.) and freshman Kristina Beck (Jacksonville, Fla.) rounded out the Lion lineup with a 9.375 and a 9.150.
Penn State moved to beam in the second rotation, with Brockway again the Lions' top finisher with a third-place and career-high-tying 9.800. Personett and Hover finished fifth and sixth, respectively, with scores of 9.775 and 9.750 while Rohrbaugh placed 12th with a 9.650. Freshmen Melissa Klein (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Heather McElwee (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) both scored a 9.275.
On floor in rotation three, Personett recorded her fifth score of 9.900 for the year to place second, senior Aslynn Satterfield (Boalsburg, Pa.) posted a 9.850 for third and Rohrbaugh notched a 9.800 for fifth. Smith tallied a season-high 9.775 for eighth place and McElwee and Beck closed out the lineup with a 9.650 and an 8.975.
The Nittany Lions closed out the evening on vault, with Personett taking home her fourth individual title of the season and her sixth consecutive top-five finish. Satterfield racked up a career-high 9.850 and Brockway provided a season-high 9.850 to tie for fourth as Beck recorded a career-high 9.825 for sixth. Rohrbaugh posted a 10th-place 19775 while Hover tallied a 9.725 to place 13th.
Penn State remains on the road, traveling to Big Ten rival Ohio State on Sunday, Feb. 24 for a 2:00 p.m. contest that will air on the Big Ten Network on Thursday, Feb. 24 at 6:00 p.m. ET. The Nittany Lions then return home to host Bowling Green, Cortland and George Washington on Saturday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall.
