No. 18 Women's Gymnastics Finishes First At New Hampshire

DURHAM, N.H. - The 18th-ranked Penn State women's gymnastics team finished first with a season-high score of 195.275 at New Hampshire Saturday night, defeating the Wildcats (194.225), Yale (189.100) and William & Mary (186.750) in Durham, N.H.

The Nittany Lions recorded scores of 49.050 on vault, 48.350 on bars, 48.875 on beam and 49.000 on floor.

Three Nittany Lions claimed the top three spots in the individual all-around, led by sophomore Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) who placed first with a season-high-tying 39.350. Sophomores Alexandra Brockway (Macungie, Pa.) and Casey Rohrbaugh (Spring Grove, Pa.) finished second and third, respectively, with scores of 38.825 and 38.475.

Penn State opened the quad meet on the beam, with Personett and freshman Heather McElwee (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) each scored a 9.800 to tie for first place, a season-high for Personett and a career-high for McElwee. Brockway and freshman Melissa Klein (Oceanside, N.Y.) both tallied a 9.775 to tie for third place while freshman Danielle Hover (Hamburg, N.Y.) scored a 9.725 for sixth and Rohrbaugh notched a 9.700 for 11th.

The Nittany Lions moved to the floor in the second rotation as Personett and senior Aslynn Satterfield (Boalsburg, Pa.) both recorded a 9.875 to take home the title. Rohrbaugh placed fourth with a 9.800, McElwee claimed seventh with a career-high 9.750 while freshman Kristina Beck (Jacksonville, Fla.) scored a 9.700 to place 10th and Brockway posted a 9.400 to round out the Lion competitors.

On vault in the third rotation, Personett was Penn State's top finisher with a 9.875 for second place and Satterfield and Hover recorded scores of 9.825 and 9.800 for third and fourth, respectively. Brockway and Rohrbaugh each notched a 9.775 to tie for sixth while Beck tallied a 9.575 to place 12th.

Penn State closed out the meet on the bars as Brockway brought home her third individual bars crown of the season with a first-place 9.875. Beck and Personett each posted identical scores of 9.800 for second and Hover tallied a 9.675 for ninth while Rohrbaugh and McElwee finished out the Lion competitors with scores of 9.200 and 8.925, respectively.

The Nittany Lions remain on the road, traveling to North Carolina State on Feb. 16 at 7:00 p.m.
