No. 20 Women's Gymnastics Falls At No. 6 Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The 20th-ranked Penn State women's gymnastics team fell at No. 6 Alabama, 197.300 to 194.675, Friday night in Tuscaloosa, Ala., in front of 9,503 fans. Sophomore Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) earned her 10th consecutive top-5 finish in the all-around, scoring a 39.250 to place fourth.

As a team, the Nittany Lions posted scores of 48.975 on vault, 49.000 on bars, 47.950 on beam and 48.750 on floor. The Crimson Tide recorded marks of 49.400 on vault, 49.225 on bars, 49.250 on beam and 49.425 on floor.

Penn State opened the meet on the uneven bars, with Personett and freshman Danielle Hover (Hamburg, N.Y.) each recording a 9.850 to tie for third, a career-high mark for Hover. Freshman Kristina Beck (Jacksonville, Fla.) notched a personal-best-tying 9.800 for seventh and sophomores Rosie Smith (Waterford, Pa.) and Alexandra Brockway (Macungie, Pa.) each tallied a 9.750 as sophomore Casey Rohrbaugh (Spring Grove, Pa.) finished with a 9.175.

In the second rotation, the Nittany Lions moved to the vault with Personett as the top finisher, scoring a 9.875 to tie for third. Brockway shared sixth-place honors as she scored a 9.825, Hover tallied a 9.775 while Beck and Smith each scored a 9.750 and senior Aslynn Satterfield (Boalsburg, Pa.) notched a 9.725.

On the floor in the third rotation, Personett led the way with a fourth-place 9.875 and Satterfield tied for seventh with a 9.800. Smith and freshman Melissa Klein (Oceanside, N.Y.) recorded marks of 9.775 and 9.700, respectively, as Beck notched a 9.600 and Rohrbaugh provided a 9.100.

Penn State closed out the meet on beam, with Rohrbaugh earning a sixth-place 9.775. Brockway earned a 9.750 and Personett scored a 9.650. Senior Lindsay Borkan (Long Grove, Ill.) notched a 9.525 while Klein tallied a 9.250 and Hover posted a 9.200.

The Nittany Lions return home to host Maryland, Rutgers and Nebraska on Friday, March 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall in a meet that will be televised by the Big Ten Network.
