Penn State Men's Golf Team Tied for Sixth in Brickyard Collegiate

Freshman standout Nick Archambault (St-Jean-Sur-Rich, Q.C., Canada) leads the Nittany Lion men's golf team after the first round of the Brickyard Collegiate Championship. Archambault tied for fourth in the individual rankings, firing an opening round of even par (70). Archambault birdied holes one, 11 and 18 to secure good placement for round two.

The men's golf team stands tied for sixth with Wake Forest and Duke University after the first round at 17-over par (297). Current team leader, Georgia Tech, finished at two-over par (282).

Round two will continue tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m., with Penn State's Matt Leon (Ontario, Canada), who finished round one at 15-over par. Junior Kevin Foley (Sommerville, N.J.) finished tied at 14 with a three-over par (73), birdying holes 15 and 17. Sophomore Tommy McDonagh (Wilton, Conn.) shot a six-over par (76) and will continue tomorrow morning at 8:50 a.m. Junior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa) finished at eight-over par (78) and will tee-off at 8:40 a.m.

"Kevin and Nick played exceptional rounds in the windy conditions today," said head coach Greg Nye. "The team played well through the middle of the round, and we just struggled to finish what we started."
