University Park, Pa. - The Penn State women's gymnastics team finished last school year ranked 27th in the nation in the annual NACGC-W National Team Academic Rankings. Individually, five Nittany Lion student-athletes were recognized.
It is the sixth consecutive year that the Penn State women's gymnastics team has finished in the top 30 in the country in the academic ranking, as the 2008 team finished the school year with a combined grade point average of 3.3431. The Nittany Lions were also the third-highest Big Ten team in the rankings.
Individually, Lindsay Borkan earned her second career honor with a 3.76 GPA in Communication, Arts & Sciences, Melissa Klein picked up her first career recognition with a 3.89 GPA in Visual Arts, Brandi Personett earned her second career accolade with a 3.85 GPA in Nursing, Aslynn Satterfield captured her third career honor with a 3.79 GPA in Recreation, Park and Tourism Management and Allie Southard earned her first accolade with a 3.71 GPA in Business.
The Penn State women's gymnastics team opens up its season on Saturday, Jan. 10 when it welcomes Pittsburgh to Rec Hall for a 7:00 p.m. meet.
