No. 14 Women's Gymnastics Falls To No. 16 Michigan, 195.800-194.925

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The 14th-ranked Penn State women's gymnastics team dropped a road contest to No. 16 Michigan, 195.800 to 194.925, Friday night in Ann Arbor, Mich. The meet will be televised on the Big Ten Network on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 4:00 p.m. ET.

Freshman Natalie Ettl (North Prairie, Wis.) recorded a career-high 9.850 to take home her first collegiate uneven bars title, while junior Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) posted a season-high-tying 9.950 to claim first on vault and notched a 9.900 on floor for her fifth crown this year.

As a team, Penn State recorded scores of 48.975 on vault, 48.975 on bars, 48.100 on beam and 48.875 on floor while Michigan posted marks of 48.650 on vault, 48.975 on bars, 49.025 on beam and 49.150 on floor.

Personett finished third in the all-around with a 38.975, her sixth consecutive top-three finish this season. Michigan's Kylee Botterman claimed the individual all-around title with a 39.325 while teammate Sarah Curtis posted a 39.050 for second.

The Nittany Lions started the meet off on the uneven bars, with Ettl capturing the crown with a career-best 9.850. Junior Alexandra Brockway (Macungie, Pa.) notched a 9.825 to tie for second as Personett finished fourth with a 9.800. Junior Rosie Smith (Waterford, Pa.) and sophomore Danielle Hover (Hamburg, N.Y.) each recorded a 9.750 to tie for eighth, a season-high for Hover, as freshman Alex Stine (Philipsburg, Pa.) tallied a 9.350.

On vault in the second rotation, Personett claimed the title with a season-high-tying 9.950 for her fifth vault title of the season. Smith and freshman Whitney Bencsko (Pompton Plains, N.J.) tied for second with a 9.800 while junior Casey Rohrbaugh (Spring Grove, Pa.) posted a 9.725 for eighth. Brockway and Hover rounded out the Lion competitors with scores of 9.700 and 9.625, respectively.

Penn State competed on floor in the third rotation, with Personett scoring a 9.900 to tie Botterman and capture her fifth floor crown of the year. Smith finished fifth, scoring a 9.800, while Bencsko claimed seventh with a 9.775. Rohrbaugh and sophomore Heather McElwee (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) tied for ninth with scores of 9.700 while junior Allie Southard (Nanuet, N.Y.) posted a 9.525 for 11th.

The Lions finished off the meet on beam, with Southard claiming a career-high-tying 9.850 to finish third as Penn State's highest finisher. Bencsko put up a 9.775 for fifth while Rohrbaugh and Brockway scored a 9.650 and a 9.500, respectively. Personett and sophomore Melissa Klein (Oceanside, N.Y.) rounded out the Lion competitors with scores of 9.325 and 9.300. Michigan's Botterman and Jordan Sexton each scored a 9.875 to tie for first.

Penn State returns home to host another quad meet with New Hampshire, Rutgers and Bridgeport on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 7:00 p.m. at Rec Hall.
