University Park, Pa. - Penn State junior women's gymnast Brandi Personett (Katy, Texas) has been named the Big Ten Co-Gymnast of the Week, conference officials announced. It is the seventh career honor and the third of the season for Personett, who was also honored on Jan. 26 and Feb. 9. She shares this week's honor with Iowa's Rebecca Simbhudas.
Personett picked up her fifth individual all-around title and her seventh top-three all-around finish with a 39.450 in Penn State's second quad meet of the year against New Hampshire, Rutgers and Bridgeport. The junior earned her sixth vault title with a 9.900, her fifth straight 9.9 or better in the event. On bars, Personett finished second with a 9.850, her third-highest score of the year, and on beam, she placed fifth with a 9.825, just shy of her season high of 9.850. Personett captured her sixth individual crown on floor with a 9.875.
Penn State closes out its home season this weekend, hosting No. 11 Alabama and No. 19 Ohio State on Sunday, March 1 at 2:00 p.m. at Rec Hall. The meet will be televised by the Big Ten Network and will air on Sunday, March 8 at 12:00 p.m. ET.
